Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by amblors(m): 4:20pm On Sep 27, 2011
for that ur website advert covered your rating of 2songs.

and em Mr Nice watch - 2.5
in the morning i have never liked.
never told is NOT a GREAT song as u put it
Gods gift = madt beat, ok first verse, JUNK second verse, i know everyone rates this 5/5, it doesnt deserve 3.5
breakdown deserves atleast a 4/5, i like emotional, but there's something about this one, i don't really like it.
workout - 2/5

CLASSIC? CLASSIC? - J. Cole fanatics would call it that, thinking objectively, you would not.
Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by WPBandit(m): 4:52pm On Sep 27, 2011
I may be a little biased, being a huge J. Cole fan. But ironically, I thought those same songs you mentioned weren't that great either, but I listened to it again, and again and they actually grew on me. Maybe I exaggerated on the Never Told being a great song, it is ok/good, but I just can't get with breakdown either, and I fully agree that Work out is horrible.
Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by Hardballer(m): 10:34pm On Sep 28, 2011
4.5 or 5 imo, Cole World ppl get with it
Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by Abagworo(m): 5:23am On Sep 29, 2011
All I can say is that its been a while a real hip-hop album like this has been put out.I hope the risk pays off.
4.9/5 is a good score cos I love pure hip-hop.The newer generation might not relate well with it though. So do not expect 500k sales in a week but J.Cole has emerged.

I think the album will eventually go platinum and produce a no1 song "Can't Get Enough".
Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by WPBandit(m): 8:09pm On Sep 30, 2011
I listened to the album again and again and it keeps getting better. Nobody can debate that it's a hell of a debut. Also, The good news is that it's actually going to sell between 200-250k in it's first week. That's pretty surprising! I thought he was going to do like 50k. It just shows that quality music will always sell.

I guess Jay-Z knew what he was doing when he kept delaying his CD

I agree, Drake has become too damn depressing to listen to. He's starting to sound more and more like a jilted woman.

Its a very good album. Well balanced.
U must understand how hard it is to put out such material being signed to a major label.
Still, Cole didnt sell out. We old fans will want the classic WarmUp/ComeUp cole. .
but thats d selfish side of most underground rapper's fan.

Even tracks refered to as commercial have good lyrics.
Like he said "the say im like the human body, i produce ma own poo"
His production aint bad, . I respect the boy cos he took his destiny into his own hand.
Not dependin on the big producers he has access to, not gettin so much support(typical of Jay)
Guyz u can u  knock a guy like that.

Kendrick is nice, but that he'l eat Cole. .u gotta be trippin.
Only if u'v not heard enuff Cole material.
Of this new skool i do not see any1 who tells compellin "real" story like cole, and thats a major plus.
Most of them dont even sound convincin. Listen to cole and u can feel its comin from d heart.
And when it comesto spazzin out too. .Cole throws up on e'rone who ever featured him.

Plus, he's headed for #1 on d billboard chart, predicted to do bout 250k. .its a good start.

That said, "Friday Night Live" wuldda been the album. But i suspect some internal politickin.
But even as a mixtape, it kills many artiste's album.

Cole world. .phuk global warmin!

Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by WPBandit(m): 7:28pm On Oct 04, 2011
I definitely agree DBR. Because of J.Cole's past mixtapes his standards has been set extremely high. If he doesn't meet those standards on the actual album people tend to think he underachieved. I disagree with that way of thinking. I think if you had no prior knowledge of J.Cole or never heard any of his past stuff you would consider this album pretty damn good. I think people should rate it that way. People should rate an album by the quality of the music, not by what you expected or what you compare it to. I can tell everyone on here is genuine in whether they like the album or not. But to say this album "isn't good" or is "average" I think is crazy.

I have to actually agree with amblor on one thing, J. Coles 2nd verse on God's Gift IS horrible! lol I don't know what he's talkin' about

Re: J.cole - Cole World Album Review by Wordsmith(m): 6:03pm On Oct 12, 2011
IMHO, the album is just decent, not "very good" and way far from a classic. Frankly, a good number of songs on his mixtapes (particularly The Come Up and Friday Night Lights) should have made the final cut and not fraggin' Lights Please. The album doesn't exactly grow on one, as his st(f)ans claim as they lack momentum and have this slow monotonous laid back feel to it, which gives the listener the impression he's listening to the same song like 5 times. Cole World lacks the same diversity you find in his two previous works, but J. Cole still manages to lift the drugged feel of the album with songs like Lost Ones, Never Told. Overall a decent first offering.

Seriously, why is nobody listening to Phonte's Charity Starts At Home and Evidence's Cats And Dogs? Two slept on sick albums, sicker than this here reviewed one? And not even Apathy's Honkey Kong? Shieeeet!

yea, i had bigger xpectation for God's gift 2nd verse.
Most times tho i look towards Simba's 3rd verses,
so when i heard the 2nd and it wasnt as dope as the 1st
(whicn most time is how Cole structures his 3 vrese tracks)
i was just waitin for the 3rd which didnt come sad

Then i remebered thats the track he intended for JayZ to jump on initially.
That wuldda changed the cadence and direction of the track.
And since JayZ didnt i guess Cole just chilled on spazzin out.

Happy for Cole tho, he proved that witout a top single and witout sellin out
a good album could still make it to  #1 smiley

Phonte's CSAT is a good material.
Tho Phonte is a Vet at this thing i cant honestly say his album was better than Cole's.
It even sorta panned out like Coleworld TSLS.
from track 6 to 12 the album lost the verve with which it strated.
, well track 10 and 12 kinda uplifted that half tho.
But yeA, its a good material.
Not listened to Cats and Dogs yet . .
