I had a similar issue when I was an undergraduate student, I had malaria and a particular medicine called camoquin was recommended for me which I used and for 3 days, my ears were completely blocked as if water was inside. I withdrew from the medicine and about 3 weeks, everything normalize but when it was about to normalise, I felt air escape from my ears one at a time.

Don't remove your auditory nerves as earlier said, don't attempt to do anything to restore it either, avoid sound as much as you can, all these nerves has a way of restoring themselves, it might just take a while.

Its getting to 8years now since i don't know what is sleep unless i take alcohol or any substance to make me high. I can't afford to mix with people because any sound my ears receive will continue to play in my ears for days. And this sounds are never meaningful, if a person is talking loudly, my ears will be receiving it as a different sound like a car horn, a trumpet, bell ringing etc

I will not forget how i visited traditional doctors in my village and beyond but as it is now, i don't think this has no cure like i read online

Traveling out of Naija is what I think is best medically. So if your family can afford it travel out for and operation.
Don't rule out spiritual solution too. I am not saying you should start visiting prophets and churches o. 99% are fake so be careful.
If you are a child of God, as you continue searching for medical solution keep excercising your faith who knows.

I will tell u the truth. This sickness has no cure. 5% of world population is suffering from it. No doctor in the world will ever reveal this to u. Tinnitus is a very dangerous defect dont let me call it disease. The only options is cochlear implants in both hear which cost millions. You are not alone on this, though life seems to make it looks like you are alone.
See wear your defect with confidence and move on to the next level. Life is not fair at all and if u are suffering from this type of defect, it makes it worse. Tinnitus is something that happens when you least expect it. Thank God you have really grown up and learn before it happened. Go to lagos state university hospital, you will thank God for ur own when u see little children that cant talk or hear not to talk of doing something worthwhile in life.
Brace urself up big time cos family will abandon u later in life. Everyone will move on but your self will will keep u on.
If possible u can get money to do cochlear implant or surgery like u said, it will be a good things but as of now be happy. What of if it's ur eyes. God is by ur side o.

Though you're you're very willing to help, but your information is highly inaccurate. No need for any expensive surgery. #100 is all it takes. Do read my writeup on this thread regarding the condition.

I'm glad I read the entire post before commenting. I was just about to comment something incredulous after reading the opening paragraph about your wish to stop hearing at all. People that say they know what you're going through don't have a clue. Yes, there's no cure. They've made promises about stem cell treatment but it's still in the research stage with no hope for a cure in the foreseeable future. I can't even begin to imagine what life is like for you, I know what you wrote here is just scratching the surface of your daily challenges, both mentally, physiologically, and physically. In any case, I want to advise you to consider cochlear implant before doing anything drastic or with such finality. You're most likely going to lose whatever is left of your natural hearing entirely, with the implant functioning as your auditory replacement. If you haven't heard about CI, read up on it online. It sounds li ok e your family is doing okay, in which case I strongly recommend they fly you to the States to get your CI and the follow-ups. By the way, you mentioned the drug, "betahistine." What was it supposed to do?

So sorry OP, this is what I have been facing for the past 21 years, I have meningitis and went into comma for 17 days, after I came out of comma I couldn't hear a single thing, I was refer to a specialist in Ibadan, house of hearing in Yemetu, he refuse to wash my ear, he said it might become worse, hence I should keep taking medication until I am bit strong because I was weak after living hospital that I can't walk on my own.... After like 6 weeks my hearing improve, when I resume back to school I can't pick things so I visit UCH they recommend either hearing aids or cochlear Implants, I opt for heating aids because it's lesser, cochlear Implant will cost about 5m then while hearing is just 350k, after wearing it for like 3 months my hearing has gone from bad to worse because heariny aids amplify sound, thereby once I remove it I can't hear anything again, after I stop wearing it I started having Tunitinus, at times I will me slapping myself to stop the unpleasant sound, I was advice to get a good blood tonic, I started taking astymin and the Tunitinus stop on it's own, Tunitinus is a very bad experience you don't want to wish your enemy.... Right now I am heariny impaired, I heat if you face me and speak slowly and those that know me know how to communicate with me, I got married late because of this, my wife wasn't bothered about my hearing, she love the fact that I am sociable, hardworking and intelligent, OP get a good blood tonic, if you can also visit house of hearing, Yemetu Oja Ibadan God can help you there its an hospital ooo, not a church, I only use God can help you because they actually don't have treatment for hearing impaired or any issue that has to do with your inner ear in Nigeria, almitghy UCH refer me to India, if you Wana come to Ibadan you can reach me on 08031158818. Strictly whatsapp, I don't heat on phone

You received some ototoxic medications in the course of your treatments.

"Ototoxicity is when a person develops hearing or balance problems due to a medicine. This can happen when someone is on a high dose of a drug that treats cancer, infections, or other illnesses. When doctors find ototoxicity early, they may be able to prevent it from getting worse".

You should seek treatment ASAP! The link here should provide an insight about your diagnosis and the prognosis.

@Kpakpakpa and others, help is on the way, ensure to carefully read my entire writeup.

Please and please don't remove that Auditory nerves o. shocked shocked Regardless of the age of your tinnitus, you can still relieve the symptoms from 10-100%. Yes, all and you'll have a blissful night sleep. Mercy Johnson also made a great mistake by removing her Thyroid gland. Anything and everything on this planet can be CURED, except death. Yes! I will always stand by that!

Don't let the some of the failings of modern medicine condemn you to a life of unwanted noise.

If your tinnitus is subjective (i.e caused by noise, ear infection, drugs, or other unknown cause etc) congrats you're on your way to a swift healing.

But if it's objective that is, the Doctor or anyone else can ear it, then you may want to check for heart conditions and other issues.

Let me repeat, TINNITUS, can be CURED 100%, I'm a living testimony and others who've tried the method below.

First off, you should up your Zinc intake from both natural and pills. For naturals, eat beef liver (one of the best superfood on the planet!), Fishes etc. For supplements, go to a big pharmacy and ask for Zinc (50-100mg). Then take it everyday.

You know why you should take Zinc?
The ear is one of the organs with the largest concentration of Zinc in the body. Depletion of Zinc causes tinnitus, and increasing it's intake helps relieve tinnitus resulting from other means including Zinc depletion.

Also, excess Zinc would be safely disposed off by the body. This should be combined with the second method.

The second method will blow your mind off, and it's the most effective!
The answer is good, old Onion or it's cousin garlic. These two are the most potent remedy we know to fight Tinnitus and ear infections to the core.

Yes, #100 worth of onion or garlic maybe all it takes to free you from this condition forever. Don't let anyone consign you to a life of misery because they believe it's incurable.

Don't be scared. You can use this in three ways, however, before use, ask someone to check your ear drums with a flashlight, if it's not perforated then continue;

1. Remove the old back, cut the onion, grate it, and squeeze the juice. Then with a teaspoon, bend and expose the affect ear upwards and put two drops in it, and cover it with cotton wool to retain the juice inside. It might feel cold, but your body will adjust to it. Change every 6-8 hours. Though it's best done in the night.

2. Cut the onion in ring shapes, take one ring and insert into the ear, with the other part of the ring sticking out, then go to sleep.

3. Put the onion in a hot, dry pot, and roast for 2 mins. Thereafter, you remove from the fire. Onion gets heated easily, so you may want to use a very clean cloth. Cut in half, and wrap with a cloth. Then take it close to the affected ear and let the steam penetrate the ear.

Use it consistently, and your Tinnitus will go away in no time.

If you prefer garlic, I'll give you it's formula too.

For everyone suffering from Tinnitus, start the aforementioned process ASAP, and get total relief from Tinnitus. Tried and tested by me and others.

This tininus has shown me shege no be small. Thanks for the info,I'll sure try it.Hope and pray it works

Your comments sound somewhat insensitive. If you've had tinnitus, then thank your God because it wasn't serious enough that you had to research and Goggle it, because then you'd have learnt that tinnitus often go hand in hand with hearing impairment. Also thank your God your tinnitus wasn't serious enough that you had to go to the hospital, because then you'd have learned there are prescriptions to treat tinnitus. I wonder what kind of tinnitus you had.
Kobojunkie:
1. I mean why did you lose your hearing? I have had tinnitus for several years myself, but I have nothing like hearing loss, and tinnitus is quite common here. undecided
Aren't the doctors able to restore your hearing or something? If not, what then do you need to be on medication for? I hope not the tinnitus. undecided

Humble greetings fam!

I will like to know if its possible to remove my auditory nerve or anything that can make me to stop hearing completely. I suffered a strange kind of hearing loss that comes with another condition called tinnitus

It happened since 2015 when i was admitted in a teaching hospital(doctors told me that my problem was typhoid) and treated for months. When i was about to discharged, i noticed that one of my ears was not functional which i complained immediately to the docs there told me that my condition was critical and was consequently administered hard drugs which is clearly the cause of my partial deafness and was given an appointment in 2weeks time to follow up about the new ailment. I came back home using only one ear.

After about 5days at home, i enter okada to the use an atm in town, upon reaching the bank, i joined the atm line to made my withdrawal, it was there that an old friend started talking to me that i discovered that both my ears were not functional.

I also suffer from Tinnitus but the difference is that mine is on only my right ear...when I am in a very quiet room my right ear keeps producing some sounds...that sometimes makes it hard for me to listen or hear an outside noise properly. This one ear deafness and strange sounds from d ear only happens when I am in a very quiet place or room. It’s been months i started experiencing it and it doesn’t seem like it will stop. I browsed the internet and I found no remedy to it..in fact the internet said it will later stop on it’s own.

The noise Na only u wey carry the ear dey hear and feel am...nobody can hear d annoying sound coming from that ear. It all started one evening in my room last year October till now the noise hasn’t stopped. I just pray it doesn’t become something too serious as that of OPs own. I hear very well with both ears outside but when in a very quiet room the sound starts on my right ear making hearing on that ear difficult. Hmmm

Hang in there bro.

"Based on the story, it is possible that the prolonged use of hard drugs during the patient's hospitalization in 2015 may have caused damage to the auditory nerve, leading to partial deafness and tinnitus. The patient's condition seems to have been exacerbated by the beatings on both ears by the bad guys, which led to heavy sounds in the ears.

It is important to note that removing the auditory nerve may not be a viable solution as it may cause other complications. It is advisable for the patient to seek the advice of an experienced and qualified medical professional who can provide proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment options, including therapy and medication".

The symptoms of sounds repeating in the ears for days, also known as tinnitus, can be caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to loud noise, ear infections, hearing loss, certain medications, and underlying health conditions like high blood pressure and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).

To determine the underlying cause of tinnitus, it is important to see an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist or audiologist for a thorough evaluation. The specialist may perform a hearing test, physical exam, and review of the patient's medical history to identify potential causes of the tinnitus.

Treatment for tinnitus depends on the underlying cause, and may include medications to manage underlying health conditions, hearing aids or sound masking devices to reduce the perception of the tinnitus, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients manage their reaction to the sound, or a combination of these approaches. Additionally, lifestyle changes such as reducing exposure to loud noises, quitting smoking, and managing stress levels can also help alleviate tinnitus symptoms.

It's important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for tinnitus. A medical professional can help diagnose the underlying cause of the tinnitus and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to the individual's needs.

*do not take this as medical advise*

where are you based? you need to see an ENT as soonest as possible!
