A WORD TO A SLEEPING GIANT By JUSTICE E. Giant! Potential giant of my time You have made the tropics your abode Abounding in beauty and splendor You smile through hopelessness Latent giant of the tropics I mourn your misfortune. Giant! Potential giant of my time You thrive like a midget in the midst of plenty Making your home unbearable for her own Your ward scatter all over the world Latent giant of the tropics I decry your hostile nature. Giant! Potential giant of my time Your men on uniform have gone haywire Begging with arms and ammunition Armless men are menaced Latent giant get of the tropics Rise up and oppress your oppressors. Giant! Potential giant of my time Insecurity reside within your home Explosion rock the streets The blood of the innocent stain our hands Latent giant of the tropics Wake up with your sword of vengeance. Giant! Potential giant of my time Your politics has maimed many Your political sword slaughter comrades With impunity money is stashed beyond our eyes Latent giant of the tropics Arise and arrest your oppressors. Giant! Potential giant of my time You are five decades and one In abundance you fare like a suckling Hijacking power elections are rigged Latent giant of the tropics When will you defend the labour of past heroes? Giant! Potential giant of my time I see hope in your hopelessness Soaring high like an eagle You shall rise tomorrow from the dust of today Latent giant of the tropics I await your victory parade! http://literaryhome..com/2011/09/october-our-october.html#!/2011/09/october-our-october.html |

A nation full of mercy, A nation full of grace , A nation that lingers in the glory of God, A nation that is located in the God’s heart. Nigeria, blessing is your name, among nations Your land is full of many resources (human and otherwise) Fertile land for farming You are highly endowed with talents I am not ashamed and not afraid to a part of you (NIGERIAN) I am proudly Nigerian And “unrepentantly Nigerian” (Tunji Oladimeji) It is another celebration of NIGERIA Independence And so, if you are part of my village Please feel at home As we serve you pounded yam While you sip peace commanding fresh water. IRE (Prayer) Lord, thank you for your love for Nigeria Thank you for your love will always persist. Forgive us our sins as a nation and Re-establish Your will in us. Every seed of evil doer should be destroy, Every plant of evil should be uprooted and be casted into fire, Restore total peace into our land once again, Give us leaders of your mind and take charge of our nation. All these and other Good things we ask in JESUS name (amen). Point of Action Wish Nigeria well and it shall be well with you, Do good and advocate for justice in the land, Stop spreading the virus of bad names(home and abroad), Don’t be pessimistic, be hopeful and courageous We shall have new NIGERIA, It is well. IBILE OMO…, I care for you, Nigeria. |

Nothing, except Her Leaders fighting and struggling for their personal pocket to get richer more and more, I don't blame them, Nigerians are to be Blame because we smile in Suffering, I don't celebrate an Independent day,i don't even remember to talk about it. Yeye people, writing poetry instead of weep and gnashing their teeth at the misfortune of yet another year of indentured servitude under kleptocrats! Keep writing your poetry while your oppressors pop Cristal in Abuja! |

Instead of mobilising the youths in whatever way they can, to at least do a Tunisia on our despicable leadership, these ones find so much in Nigeria to glory in. Keep it up lads, Bakare called you all fools and i know he was absolutely right. If Dimeji Bankole had written these poems, it would have made a lot of sense to me. |
