Engineer Faruk Usman is the immediate past Managing Director of the Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Limited (NGMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He holds a Master Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Benin and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University Kano. He is also in his final phase of obtaining a PhD in Industrial Engineering in the Department of Production Engineering from the University of Benin, Benin City. He has obtained notable and prestigious certifications in the area of Project Management Professionals in the United States of America and International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety in the United Kingdom.

He has put in over 30 years of practical work experience in the Oil and Gas industry which cuts across Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, Refinery & Petro-Chemicals, Gas Infrastructure development and the Nigerian Gas Marketing & Distributions. His immense contributions to the development of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Sector can be seen particularly in the NNPC.

Prior to his position as Managing Director, he served as the Executive Director, Asset Management and Technical Services of the Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Limited where he was responsible for managing the development of gas delivery infrastructures and also, managing its Operations and Maintenance for gas supply for customers to increase domestic gas utilization in the country.

Engr. Faruk Usman is a certified member of many professional bodies Including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Pipeline Professional Association of Nigeria (PLAN), Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) in the United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Production Engineers, Fellow of the Institute of Quality Association of Nigeria (IQAN). He has acted as Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems and Lead Auditor for Environmental Management Systems. In recognition of his contributions to National Development in the field of Engineering, coupled with his exemplary leadership skills and accomplishments, the European-American University Commonwealth of Dominica conferred on him the prestigious Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters with all its rights and privileges.

A widely travelled and experienced Engineer, Engr. Faruk Usman has attended several conferences, seminars and training, prominent among which includes Petroleum Project Economics and Risk Analysis in the USA; Leadership and Management Master Class in UK & USA; Inspection and Reliability Maintenance in India; High Impact Business Communication in Dubai and amongst others. Engr. Usman has also consistently distinguished himself in several leadership positions that he has occupied, some of which include Advisor of the International Rescue Committee (IRC); Member of the Peace Ambassadors; Judge of Students in Free Enterprise in Nigeria (SIFEN), all in addition to various Professional and National Committee assignments.
