Meta, the parent company of Facebook, prepares to launch Threads, its latest app aiming to rival the popular social media platform Twitter. Threads, scheduled to go live on Thursday, is currently available for pre-order on the Apple App Store. Integrated with Instagram, the app offers users a text-based conversation platform closely resembling Twitter’s interface.

Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, and Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, have actively engaged in an ongoing rivalry. In a recent development, the two influential figures even agreed to a physical fight, although the seriousness of their intentions remains uncertain. Taking a jab at Zuckerberg, Musk responded to a tweet about Threads, sarcastically commenting on the app’s management.

Meanwhile, Twitter revealed that its popular user dashboard, TweetDeck, will be behind a paywall in 30 days. Musk actively promotes Twitter’s subscription service, Twitter Blue, and recently limited visible tweets to address data scraping concerns. In contrast, Meta’s Threads app is anticipated to provide unrestricted, free access to post viewing.
