Obinoscopy:
Good development. However govt should go further to ensure that the value of the 200k does not depreciate. They can do this by reducing unnecessary expenses within govt for example the jumbo pay of political office holder should be cut. Also emphasis has to be placed on production so that prices of food commodities and other items are brought down. And also emphasis of production will increase the value of the naira against the dollar.
lies they can not do nothing they're just trying to brainwash nigerians. If they do it i swear to god i will credit you 40000 they can not is this not the same apc i known this people are jokers

This is really laughable😂.
Who really did this to my Nigeria?
We are always unserious and ready to jump right steps.
Imagine my country not thinking of better ways to deploy wealth, increasing only minimum wage won't really help; that's because it's not only civil servants that are Nigerians and vice versa.
I will suggest we build chocolate, milk, soap, canned fish industries etc, so we employ people and that will also improve revenue etc.
Anything this govt can do to reduce food prices, housing and transport is welcome.
As for security, I think after withdrawing orderlies from top tier citizens, let's do reposting and let's reshuffle.

CodeTemplar:
The question isn't about minimum wage but of price of things. Prices determine buying power of the money.

If the govt exercises the power to print money and decide to introduce it into the system by paying workers N200k, the businessmen who produce and import what that money ends up buying will adjust because nothing stops them for setting high prices. At the end, the worker will discover his 200k can't buy what 30k could before the minimum wage increase.

The only solution to our problem is production of goods and not of money. Money is gradually failing but many can't see it.

You get sense...

How feasible is this?

Some states are still unable to pay 30k.

Because corruption has eaten deep. The Nigerian leader thinks of ways to divert funds to himself or herself else there is really no state that cannot fund minimum wage above 100 to 150k but this will affect monies they all have already planned to divert by way of fake contracts, IPOs etc. the rot in the system is much

One other thing must be checked which is inflation else the raise in minimum wage may not mean much

The Government May settle at 100k for minimum wage, 200k will be a long drag

Excess liquidity will yield runaway inflation. grin

If they like let them pay N1,000,000 as minimum wage, it will not resolve anything as long as Nigeria is hugely dependent on importation and consumption. Naira will to go the toilet and a loaf of bread may cost N10,000. It is not about digits and numbers but the purchasing power of the currency. They know what to do to fix the foundation.

Venezuela(another petrodollar nation) hiked minimum wage by 275% from 40k to 150k bolivars in 2019---the third hike in the same year. What happened? The economy was already in shambles and inflation jumped to 684% totally negating the increment in minimum wage. So Nigeria is just chasing the tail. grin

Reading most of the comments, it's obvious most Nigerians are gullible.

Ordinary 30k can't be paid by most states, even the FG, not all parastatals pay 30k as minimum wage.

Yet senators earn extremely wild, with jumbo allowances.

How possible will 200k, even 50k, isn't feasible. Even some states who can pay a minimum wage of 50k, would rather steal the money for selfish reasons, than pay.

This country is doomed, this 8 years of tinubu will be worst than Buhari economy.
