The dirty secrets that might be there are the ones that can not be concealed and erased like history of accounts transactions, account statement and others. the drive probably contains important things like work files/documents, account information/transactions, security login e.t.c for him to have acted that way, if it was just an ordinary flash drive with no critical informations, he wouldn't have cared or bothered about it.
