Early this Wednesday morning, elements of the Presidential Guard (GP) engaged in an anti-Republican mood movement and tried in vain to obtain the support of the National Armed Forces and the National Guard. SOURCE Niger President Mohamed Bazoum detained by guards: source close to Bazoum SOURCE UPDATE: Report indicates that the President and Minister of Interior among others are under arrest, terms are being discussed, the main condition is for Bazoum to step down. Instability will remain the lot of Africa in the absence of strong institutions and in the presence of big man syndrome. Elections are routinely rigged to favour the elite.
