Back in the 80s and early 90s, Willy willy was Nigeria's most popular scary/ horror movie. The scary tone always leaves huge goosebumps around one's neck. The name of this Horror series was Hot Cash (not Willy Willy).

Willy (William) was the name of the boy servant who was killed by his master for a money-making ritual on the urging of his cantankerous wife (Nchelem). The Series was featured and shot by NTA Port Harcourt in the good old days.

Hot cash is a Nigerian horror TV Series that was aired regularly on NTA (Nigerian Television Authority) in the 80’s and was popularly called Willie Willie in all social circles back then. This series was based on the story of a young boy called Willie Willie who was sacrificed by a family member he lived with; apparently for money ritual.

He eventually came back as a vengeful spirit/ghost to haunt his relative, but also every single person in the β€˜Hot Cash’ universe that was greedy or evil. So at such times when the nine slasher episodes of Nightmare on Elms street aired on NTA, Willie Willie was also showing.

The funny thing was that, to most of us who were privy to see both movies, Willie Willie was much scarier; probably because it was indigenous.

NTA had a habit of showing Willie Willie at sun down and every Nigerian child that survived an episode of Willie Willie had a similitude of humility and calmness, probably because they were scared out of their wits and afraid that Willie Willie will haunt them if they tried being evil or stubborn.

In retrospect, Willie Willie should have been named Krampus and administered with the highest level of parental guidance. Any home that dared to watch Willie Willie did not require a babysitter as every kid in the family was well behaved out of fear.

The children of many families in the 1980s are well behaved. The fear of Willy Willy is the beginning of wisdom and good behaviours. Chai!, grin

It was very scary that year and NTA didn't do well by showing it at midnight which made it more scary.

I watched it recently and noticed how poor filming was back then in Nigeria compared to today. The visuals and audio are of very poor quality. We have come a long way in the filming industry.

Nostalgic!

Present. It was also hilarious
I remember a certain I went to go and watch it. It was a house closed to us. As we opened the window curtain to watch, the wife of the man poured us pepper water. It was black and white television.

you will know that "willie willie" dey learn

----- you will see the casket open, "ENTER MEEEEEEEEE ENTER MEEEEEEEEE..... I AM RICHER THAN YOUR FATHER"

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin when you see skeleton dey talk you go piss for body grin grin grin as a kid then - you will freeze .. and the songs too
