France has some 1,500 troops stationed in Niger to aid in fighting jihadist groups that have plagued the country along with the wider Sahel region for years.

I don't know when African nations will wake up to craft their societies into viable and prosperous entities.

This is what all these outside powers spoiling for war should realise. The discovery of the root problem and addressing it from there.

To reinstate the civilian regime today without that inquest is just kicking the can down the road and creating a defacto civilian dictatorship that is more than likely going to entrench it's ways and prosecute with greater vigour the reasons behind the upheavals.

Has anyone cared to ask Bazoum what he did or did not do to bring about this crises, the drive towards the gates of revolt and revolution. And what he promises to do better to stabilize his country BEFORE embarking on a mission of bloodshed.

For if blood is to be spilled, there has to be an intent at recompense, a sort of confession of sins and a change of ways like the holy book says.

What is Mr. Bazoum and his goverment prepared to do to unite and prosper his country. That is where the quest to repair starts, not war.

Let us all put the cart before the horse. War should be the very LAST option if at all.
