Children in French state schools will no longer be allowed to wear the abaya, a long loose-fitting dress worn by some Muslim women.

The French education minister announced the ban on Sunday ahead of the school term starting at the start of September.

France has a strict ban on religious symbols in state schools and has banned pupils from wearing headscarves since 2004.

"When you walk into a classroom, you shouldn't be able to identify the pupils' religion just by looking at them," education minister Gabriel Attal told France's TF1 TV.

"I have decided that the abaya could no longer be worn in schools."

The abaya is usually defined as a loose over-garment, essentially a robe-like dress, frequently worn by women in parts the Arabian Peninsula, most of the Middle East and sometimes in North Africa.

But the question of whether the abaya is a religious symbol is the subject of debate.

Late last year, former education minister Pap Ndiaye identified the abaya as a garment that can "take on a possible religious character" even if it is not an explicitly religious symbol.

The debate continued to escalate this year.

France's Council of Muslim Worship said the abaya is "mistaken" by some as a Muslim religious sign.

"Any item of clothing is not a religious sign in itself," the group said in a statement in June.

"You only have to travel through Muslim-majority countries to realise that the citizens of these countries, of all faiths, are indistinguishable based on the clothes they wear," it added.

In 2010, France banned full face veils in public, angering some in its five million-strong Muslim community.

The country is governed by strong rules on secularity that mean no displays of religion in public institutions.

In schools, the laws were originally aimed at removing any traditional Catholic influence from public education, but have been updated over time to include other religions.

Jewish kippah, "oversized" crosses and other religious symbols are also banned from state schools.

Poland is the only nation that has never experienced terrorism for several decades

In French public schools Christians are not allowed to wear crosses nor Jews allowed to wear their kippa either. So there's some equality there.

However, I hope they don't turn around and start promoting homosexuality and transgenderism when they've banned other religions from expressing themselves.

France is saying, listen, we don't have anything against your religion, but I think you should keep it at home. It's a private thing, innit? You don't need to flaunt it in public, especially not in school. School is a place for learning, not for preaching/spreading religion. France is a secularized country, meaning that it separates religion and state. That's why they banned the abbaya and other religious symbols in state schools. It's not discrimination, it's integration. They want everyone to feel equal and free, regardless of their faith.

The recent attempted civil war done by arab muslims have taught them a very bitter lesson,

Next time, they will learn not to accommodate just anybody all in the name of liberalism, Muslims are everywhere in France especially refugees, give them an inch, they will take thousands of miles, what they cannot try in Arab countries, they want to do much more in woke countries, same Arab countries that couldn't lend a hand to them and accommodate them as refugees and immigrants, they always want to go to western countries.

".......A LESSON FOR NIGERIA."
The protracted French riots, arson and insurrection is a classical case of what a well ocastrated state injustice and discrimination( especially ethno-politico-religious supremacist agenda as is the case in Nigeria ) can cause to a nation or country.

The Nigerian civil war costed both Biafra and the state a lot in human and economic wastage, but more than 50 years after the war, national integration have been a big problem with the warped mindset that the victims race deserves no national recognition.

Politically, the January 15 1966 military coup is only seen as an Igbo coup hence demonised as such, but the counter-coup and other subsequent ones led by the Hausa-Fulanis were not seen as such because most succeeded hence seen as heroes.

Fast forward to the 2023 era, an Igbo man contested in a presidential election, won in key states of Lagos and Abuja, but was heavily discriminated against because of his ethnic group. The racial and ethnic profiling that followed this controversial election is unprecedented in history. Yet the Nigerian state behaved as if nothing happened. #EndSARS riots were later visualised as Igbo agenda.

Now to the religious angle, many Christains in Nigeria are being delibrately persecuted and killed because of their faith. Yet the state that supposed to maintain a secular balance tends to be clearly promoting ethno-religious supremacist sentiments and agenda. Some classical cases includes the many well chronicled religious uprising down the core North.

The Chibok school girls kidnap, Lead Sharibu, the RCCG woman killed in Kubwa, the Christian woman killed in Zubwa, and last but not the least - the gruesome killing of Deborah Samuel in FCE Sokoto last year. The sad reality of all these is that, all the killers are often protected and shielded to escape justice by the religious power brokers high up in authority.

Now, the Muslims are suffering same in France. Same thing happened between the Tutsi and other ethnic groups in the inglorious post Idi-Amin era in Uganda leading to needless bloodshed and deaths.

Two wrongs does not make a right. One good turn deserves another. "An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere." This should be a lesson and warning to all. I rest my pen here.

Are transgenderism and homosexuality religions?

I agree with France.

Both Muslim Terrorists and Right Wing Nationalist extremists, can easily use this religious identifier to perpetrate terror on those not qualified or disqualified by the identifier.

A public school has no religion.

Keep your religion at home.

It's their mode of dressing long before Islam. It's not a religious dress.

I don't think this is an issue since Christians are barred from wearing the cross or religious ornaments, Jews are barred from wearing the kippah. It is not out of place to also extend it to Islam for equality.

Humanity is the best religion.
Lets all identify as human without seeing the differences in our faiths.
Our religions should foster our bond if we see ourselves as one.

Nigeria is hugely divided across religion and sometimes I wish we had one religion (humanity).

Nice. Secular countries should promote secularism in their society. Both in schools, workplace and in other public organisations.

Way to go France! Way to go!

I wish UK can adopt so many laws against these ugly reta*ds that cover themselves up in black, oozing and smelling. Unfortunately these retarded women enjoy a lot in UK cos no one questions them.

The way France has banned these Muhammad piss drinking women from one thing is the same way Ilorin has banned the cowards trying to practice Isese in a land that accommodated them in disrespect to owners of the land.

Pakistani's are also sending their own messages to Christians.

That black rag should be banned everywhere. Those head slamming cultists hide a lot under that masquerade-like attire; guns, vibrating panties, sometimes the tabatiada-reciting id1ots are even naked under.

Brainwashed fo0ls that should be exterminated from the civilised world!
