A rich Muslim man in France -Rachid Nekkaz- has put aside 1 million Euros and has vowed publically to use it to pay the fines for all those Muslim women in France who choose to hold on their Burkas and Niqabs.

A property dealer is urging women to engage in "civil disobedience" by continuing to wear the veil if they so desire and had called on supporters to hold a silent prayer in protest at the ban in front of Notre Dame. Rachid Nekkaz, who is a Muslim, said in a webcast he would help pay fines and was putting a property worth around €2m up for sale to fund his campaign.

"The street is the universal home of freedom and nobody should challenge that so long as these women are not impinging on anyone else's freedom," he said. "I am calling on all free women who so wish to wear the veil in the street and engage in civil disobedience," he said.

When you Rome act like Romans,when you are in Mecca or zamfara act like the people there,Nuns don't cover their faces if they do the french law will apply to them.We must learn how to respect each other laws and customs any where one group or religion dominates over 80% of the population.if a christian drinks alcohol in a sharia country/state,he is jailed.We are same people worshipping same God but in different ways,Islam,Judaism,Christianity are all Abrahamatic religion.lets spread love among ourselves than hate.let work and see more of our similarities than our differences,let a christian respect an islamic law in an islamic land,and let a muslim respect a christian law in a christian land.let both christian and muslim respect secular laws in secular states.if the french says they want to see your face to be able to identify you for security reasons please lets comply and if we can't comply lets live their land for them so that they wont corrupt our belief and make us act against the tenet of our religion. 1.) France is not a christian country officially
2.) Even though secular,France ensures freedom of belief
3.) the veil like any other religious symbol is neither offensive to christianity nor to secularism as alcohol is to islam,since freedom of worship is allowed in France
4.) there are not more than 2000 muslim women in France who adopt the veil.may be there are more people covering their faces during halloween than muslim women using the veil.so why not also ban halloween for "security reasons"?

i am no proponent of the veil but i am against the ban.the veil is not compulsory in Islam.it is only supplementary for women who deem it fit and feel the hijab is not enough.

I never said france was a christian country,its a secular state,and we need to respect secular laws.halloween is not celebrated in france,if its celebrated there the same law that apply to the veil should and must apply to the halloween mask.

The topic is misleading. The mademoiselle was being taken away (obviously arrested) for not respecting french law. From her posture in the picture she was obviously resisting being taken. What is humiliating from the picture? Her not respecting french law or being arrested?

When you talk about atrocities the west commits you call them "christian countries" When they try to safe guard their way of life and freedoms, you call them "secular"

Maybe they have realized that their secularism and freedoms are being abused and they are turning to the middle east for inspiration on how not to allow freedoms anymore.

Surely, the french shouldn't be criticized by Muslims of all people. Its the Muslims crying the victims of the very rights they deny others.

Reminds me of a story told by a Muslim preacher. His grandparents moved to the US from Europe in the 19th century ie is about 200 years ago. He is white. He became a muslim about 20 years ago
