It was the end of the road for two young men who were said to have scaled the fence of a house, used raw acid to break the key of the gate and stole a bus, as they have been arrested by men of the Enugu State Police Command.

The two men, whose names were given as Nzube Eze, aged 20 years and Igwe Nnamdi, aged 22 years, were arrested by the police operatives attached to the Awkunanaw Division while acting on credible intelligence reports.

According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe and posted on the Twitter handle of the command, the two men and others, said to be at large, scaled the fence of the apartment of the owner of the vehicle at One-Day area of Awkunanaw.

After scaling the fence, the members of the syndicate used what was described as raw acid to open the key of the gate after which they stole the vehicle from where it was parked.

The report added that the men however abandoned the bus and escaped after they were stopped by the Vehicle Inspection Officers on their way to Okigwe in Imo State to sell it.

However, following intelligence reports gathered about them, the police operatives spread their net and two of the members of the syndicate were arrested on their way back to Enugu

The statement added that they had given more useful information to the police operatives while efforts are on to arrest other members of the syndicate.
