Some dude who's currently in DSS detention centre once referred to Nigeria as a ZOO. Interestingly, the govt is working assiduously to prove him right.

I used Valuejet for the first time last weekend flying with their Bombardier CRJ 900. And for the first time I wasn't comfortable with the landing and braking of this particular CRJ 900 that we used. I don't know if it it the same aircraft involved in this incident. Took quite a bit of struggle to bring it to a stop within the limits. Bringing an aircraft to a stop involves a combination of brakes, increased wing drag and engine thrust reversing. Any malfunctioning of these components can lead to incidents like this. But the airlines would typically want to push to blame to other things that wouldn't indict them.

Bombardier planes have excellent performance. However, it should be emphasized that the safety of any specific flight or aircraft depends on several factors, including the airline's maintenance practices, the competence of the flight crew, and the condition of the aircraft itself.

These must be properly reviewed most especially with this kind of incident

FAAN will not want to be indicted. They will counter Valuejet position as incorrect. Accepting that presence of Algae caused the skidding is indicting themselves of negligence in the maintenance of the runway. FAAN will rather blame it on the Pilot's error except if both FAAN and Valuejet reaches a "compromise " to both blame it on the "weather". Nobody can speak for the "weather", so it should rightly be the "fall" guy here in this incidence.

In this particular incident, did you read where it says "algae" on the taxi way?.

That's not an operator's responsibility, but the airport authority's.

That said, doing anything in Nigeria will continue to remain risky because the country's institutions are very weak.

Those who know nothing about aviation commenting nonsence.

Even if disaster eventually happens they will still assure the next set of passengers safety without doing the needful. Similar thing happened in Abuja few days ago, now this one. They may not be so lucky when when the 3rd one happens. We can keep relying on luck when we neglect the fundamental issues.
