This is hilarious, what of other companies that left Nigeria. Anyone can spin this story.

Dstv ,multichoiice Nigeria made a loss of more than N70B and might leave Nigeria soon after their disastrous business year.

If the economy was growing strong no GSK would have left for Ghana.

Does it mean the investment banker cannot do a hostile takeover of GSK in Ghana market.

Is GSK so profitable than somebody would consider a hostile takeover.

So start another story spinning
Why are u talking rubbish like this.didnt u hear that d minister has full government power at his disposal?so why are u relating d takeover to Ghana?a passionate journalist has done his job by informing u...instead u are talking gibberish.if we had rule of law,gsk wont live as they can always aproach d courts.ok now dem don leave, medicine price go increase so who loose?

You made it sound so simple. That's how it usually is from a keypad. David may be right or not but a hostile takeover is not so easily brushed aside as you put it. Moreso when the hostile party is well connected and powerful in a country like Nigeria.

GSK is not limited to Nigeria.
If he is so powerful to constitute a threat to the shares of GSK in Nigeria, he could as well buy the shares of GSK in Johannesburg or London or Ghana Stock Exchanges. We GSK be running away from every country where connected capitalists (there are in every country) want to massively buy their shares?

If you leave Aba for Abeokuta because it is raining, will you also leave Abeokuta when it starts raining?

The conversation at the end of the day is simple,

For reasons best known to them, gsk prefers to produce outside Nigeria and have Nigerians (who compose a large part of their market) import their products.I won't be surprised to see them set shop in some cheap ass west african country, ready to exploit the ecowas trade agreements

The soultion again, find quickly, effective alternatives for all their products(they exist), flood the market with it at an affordable landing cost ,and pass policies to restrict gsk products in Nigeria

They have shown an anti people attitude to a country that embraced their products wholeheartedly, they pulled that stunt cos they knew nothing would happen, that Nigerians would still buy at 10 times the price and what do they loose?absolutely nothing.

And that there is the real problem.

You make it sound like hostile takeover is just about buying shares.
He could easily achieve that in Nigeria but find it almost impossible in other countries.
A good example is shop shoprite that exited Nigeria due to an unfavourable Court ruling.
Even shell has been divesting majorly due to the business environment.
A hostile takeover has more to do with regulatory concerns than just money.
