Whether we like to admit it or prefer to live in denial and ignorance which can be bliss, for each generation that goes by, family values and marriage gets weaker.

Back in my grand father's days(those born before 1900), men married more wives, even though it had its own challenges it never the less had its own merits.

Then our fathers came,(those born from 1900-1979) had encounters with the Europeans, were told that having more than one wife was sinful and would land them in hell, they obliged and devoted to one woman, even though they may have w side piece or two outside.

Then the gen y came (those born from the 1980s-late 1990s) the story changed, we are now being told it’s okay to tilt towards same grain, that a man necessarily does not have to be a man and a woman does not necessarily have to be a woman, that Adam could get down with Steve, and Eve could tango with Genevieve.

And then the cream of the crop, the generation zed came and the whole rules utterly flipped and became upended. As long as you’re not triggered, you could do whatever, money and financial freedom became the rule and the game changed to getting it however you may and would you really blame the generation zed? They’re a manifestation of secret desires, intrusive thoughts, daydreams of the preceding generations.

Now, with the proliferation of SM, the game has been upped a thousand notches higher, men and women can link up faster before my coffee is ready, financial freedom is at the tips of the finger of those who can leverage on the new age, and values like loyalty, fidelity, and trust have become arcane, more men and women are getting more independent and going their own way with marriage becoming less fanciful, unrealistic and impracticable as many people want to acquire all and be stable before getting hitched without realizing that they’re being sucked into the rat race of insatiability of human wants and desire. It’s a hamster’s wheel that gives the illusion of progress albeit static progress.

In another twenty or thirty years, There’s going to be an overwhelming evidence of breakdown of marriage and family as the glut from Gen Y and Gen Z advance into their 40s and 50s and it’ll only go downhill from there. What remains of our morals, values and society, can only be imagined with the benefit of hindsight and reviewing how we’ve moved in the last twenty years.
