Foolishness is a sin, comparing Okocha with Osimehin just because of mere CAF award , meaning you are just out of reality. Most of the guys that won that award can't be compared with Jay jay. When you mention football, JAY Jay name must be called.

Okocha isn't too ambitious and about Awards, he just enjoys the game dribbling and showing skills

Osimhen is an Orphan who survived rough condition to reach his peak, he is very hungry for success

.

You think Okocha was just about dribbling and having fun? In his Bolton days it's arguable he used to dribble unnecessarily sometimes but that paints a completely wrong picture of who Okocha was asa player, especially for Nigeria.

There are several old Nigeria games on YouTube. Try and watch some.

Okocha was the player who would drop deep to receive the ball from the defenders, dictate the game and still find himself creating the chances and scoring in the final third.

The guy was a phenomenal midfielder who has unfortunately been diminished by his dribbling prowess.

Nigerian journalist claims Osimhen is now greater than Victor Osimhen

Following the CAF Men's Player of the Year triumph over Mohammed Salah and Achraf Hakimi, a renowned Nigerian journalist claimed Victor Osimhen has surpassed JJ Okocha's legacy in Nigerian football.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen ended Nigeria’s 24-year wait for a CAF Men’s Footballer of the Year Award, and this has prompted comparisons with other legends of the sport, more specifically Jay Jay Okocha, who, despite his tremendous efforts, never received the award.

Osimhen’s triumph
The APOTY gong rewarded an incredible year for the striker, which not many, if any, players from the country had ever attained.

As cannot be overemphasised, he led Napoli to their first scudetto triumph since Maradona called Naples home, doing it similarly to D10S by scoring the most goals in the league.

Osimhen picked up the Capoocanoniere alongside the league title in a season where he became the highest-scoring African in the entirety of Serie A’s history, and this, in tandem with being named the best player in the continent by CAF, has earned him high praise from a renowned Nigerian journalist.

.

Respected sports journalist Steve Dede, elated by Osimhen’s achievements, stated boldly that the striker had moved past the revered Okocha on the rankings of the greatest-ever players to have donned several shades of green for the Super Eagles.

“Victor Osimhen just moved past Okocha in the ranking of the greatest-ever Nigerian players,” Steve said on X.

Pressed further by Pulse Sports’ Senior Editor Solace Chukwu, who, on his list of the top ten greatest Nigerian footballers of all time, named Jay Jay at 10th, Steve Dede submitted that he was substituting Okocha on said ranking, with Osimhen making an entry at 10th.

Such a wack comparisons, these are the set of people who always argue and compare people, there’s nothing bad but allow Osimhen to grow to the level he is just starting his career don’t murder it with too much expectation

You are right... Am just saying he is more selfless and cares about the game

Naturally Osimhen is a striker, striker must be hungry at all times for goals even if they have to be selfish

This is just a very stupid report.

Victor Osimhen himself knows he is not yet worthy to lace Okocha's shoes.

You dumb and brainless journalists and bloggers will just wake up and start fishing for issues where there are none.

When Osimhen wins Olympic Gold and Afcon with the super Eagles, then I can start comparing him with Jay Jay. But for now it's an insult to compare and say he's now bigger than Okocha

Mumu Journalist.

Osimhen is a striker.

What stupidity makes you wonder who is “bigger” between a midfielder and a striker?

Bigger how?

If you want to compare Osimhen, you compare him to Yekini, Kanu, Amokachi, Yak etc, not Jay Jay Okocha.

That’s just plain dumb.

In Nigerian context Okocha for now is way bigger than Osimhen, he went to the world cup thrice, won African cup of nations and Olympic gold medal in football.
