This right here is the problem with lots of you guys in this Poverty Capital of the world...!

Y'all are mentally raised to believe money is the only thing worth living for.

The entire fortune of America can never buy back all the youth and life that man missed out in jail for over 4 decades... Do you even know what 4 decades means?!!
money may not be everything but it is very essential

Most average Nigerians will give out even 5 decades for monetary return without thinking twice.

America loves "not" black people.

JAPA people, this kind of injustice transcends the whole system.
From your neighbors, to workplace to church to social outings.
Its not uncommon to experience varying degrees of pervasive racial exaggerated injustice.

Calm down abeg.

Racism is real, but American justice system has gone past this nonsense.

You can't compare their justice system over 30 years ago and currently... How easy is it to wrongfully imprison people today regardless of their race?!!! Not that easy.

Compare that to Naija where till now, many innocent people are languishing and dying in our Concentration camps called prisons.

Lol... That's what you think. But, you're wrong! Trust me... Don't even argue further. grin

The top is truly lonely and can even get depressing.

Money is essential, but it can never be worth the best years of a person's life. Never!!!

Why do you think we say "Happiness is free"?!!

Well, I respect your opinion on this issue, but you are wrong.

The state will pay him some compensation, definitely!

Unfortunately, he will die a rich but heavily pained man

When it comes to black Americans, anything is possible? He wasted 🗑 good 48yrs, 1 month, 18days.
In the prison custody, only to be released with liver cancer.......

My question is, what left for him again?

This is pure wickedness.

He still looks young and fresh despite spending all those years in prison. I wonder how someone who has spent 48yrs in kirikiri maximum prison would look like. He will be compensated but nothing in this life can replace the lost time.
As we celebrate Christmas and new year let us take our time to remember those in prison especially the wrongfully accused and awaiting trial inmates, those in the hospitals, and many who may be grieving as a result of the messed up situation of the country. Lets pray that God may comfort them in his infinite mercies. Amen.

Once you're dark skin in the US, you're guilty before proven innocent.

There's nothing like we are equal in the eyes of the law there.

No compensation can be adequate for an individual who lived his entire youth in prison and on the verge of death with liver cancer.

I repeat, no compensation can be adequate.

It's a shame really.

Honestly, no compensation can can be adequate. Most times, the injustice is done on purpose.

Stories like this is common in the US. Some of us laugh when ignorant people that has never left the shore of Nigeria will be telling you about "saner climes".

It's like the way other Africans look and appreciate Nigeria based on what they see in our movies. The big houses, nice dress, big cars, opulence, the portrayal of abundant wealth etc. And many Nigerians will be wondering, what are they talking about? Is it the same Nigeria or they are discussing another Nigeria?? grin grin
US is not just what you see on movies. The glamour, the splendour etc. There are ugly sides of the USA too. But where they are smarter than us is that they don't denigrate their country for any reason.

It rains and pours everywhere.

More cases abound in Nigeria but ours is difficult because you don't even have the chance for retrial as it's done in the IS.

Almost 5 decades in prison?😳

My goodness!!!!

No compensation can make up for the lost years. I repeat no compensation whatsoever can make up for his wasted years. Such a shame!💔

I can't even begin to imagine the mental, social, technological adjustment he is going to be needing to get up to speed with the current status quo.

You wasted his fruitful years only to declare him innocent when he can hardly achieve anything meaningful again with the rest of his life AND YOU EXPECT THUNDER NOT TO FIRE THE PROSECUTORS AND INVESTIGATORS WHO FACILITATED HIS IMPROSONMENT. DEY PLAY!

I don't know how many times I've said this across many social media that the saner climes don't have perfect system themselves but our people (and I guess the mindset is very prevalent amongst the people across the niger, apologies if I offend someone for this ) won't let us rest as if the USA, CANADA, UK, GERMANY, CHINA, et all are heaven. That they are better doesn't mean they're perfect !
