Johann Rupert, a South African business mogul, has clinched the coveted spot of Africa’s wealthiest person, displacing Aliko Dangote, Nigeria’s business tycoon.

This was disclosed by Forbes Real-Time Billionaires, a ranking platform which tracks daily changes to the net worth of the most high-net-worth individuals across the globe.

According to the real-time data, Dangote, the founder of the Dangote Group conglomerate, moved down to second position after his wealth decreased from $13.5 billion in 2023 to $9.7 billion as at January 4, 2024 — indicating a $3.8 billion loss.

Similarly, Rupert’s net worth decreased from $10.7 billion in 2023 to $10 billion in the same period in 2024.

Nigeria is happening to Dangote.

I thought he moved a substantial part of his holdings into the US stocks to avoid this scenario?

With the way efcc is hovering over this guy in recent time, its only a matter of months before he starts coughing out the dollars he got from the erstwhile CBN governor.

I foresee Asiwaju cutting this guy to size very soon.

Is it because of the probe he is undergoing in Nigeria.
The North will see this as a spite on them. The man they brag with is now being reduced to nothing.

The breakfast will go round. Bruh sweet go reach everyone! Bad leadership have serious personal consequences, no matter what you make of it! From FX of $1 to NGN 186 baba is now growling with $1 to NGN1200. Father Xmas Emefiele is no longer around to help him enforce his rich status!

By now, Dangote liability is bigger than his assets. Nothing lasts forever.

Now, let me tell you why I hate to be in Dangote shoes right now..... When you are billionaire, has lots of loans gotten when your net worth is Hugh and needs monthly servicing, then all of a sudden you loose a huge chunk of your worth. 1. You can not borrow again. 2. You can not service again. 3. Creditors would swoop on you. If na poor man, no wahala he fit run, but you as a billionaire, no where to run or hide.

If the creditors goes after his asset's, Dangote is finished.

Read my post about why Innosson is richer and wealthier than Dangote...... Na GTB dey owe Innosson....

Dangote will never forgive Tinubulation for his misfortune, it's so disheartening how he lost about 3.8 billion dollars in a year including Adenuga who also lost about 3.2 billion dollars, now Adenuga is worth 3 billion dollar, Nigeria has happen to them.
