JUST USE LIME OR ONION. YOU NO GO SMELL THEM AGAIN!!

If you have tried lemon and it didn't work. Use onion shell around them. Instead of lemon, try lime. You can also relocate the birds and use poisoned fish .

Change the environment, then place rat poison around for 3 days. After the 3 days, the rat must have eaten the poison.
That rat will continue coming as long as it knows birds are there. The best solution I can give as someone that has suffered the same problem is for you to poison the rat. You can poison it by first relocating your birds at evening even if it's to inside your room you take them.

If after everything the rats didn't die, just take a look at the attached and know they've been holding vigils.
