In much English poetry, lines are said to rhyme with each other; this really means that the last words of lines rhyme with each other. So a four line poem could have a rhyming pattern aaaa - which means that all four lines rhyme.
Read this stanza from a famous humorous poem by Lewis Carroll, You are old, Father William. What is it's rhyming pattern?


"In my youth,' said his father, 'I took to the law,

And argued each case with my wife;

And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw

Has lasted the rest of my life."
