This line of advert sounds funny to me. Do people still buy clothes to impress others talk more of girls? Perhaps immature men (boys) still do though. I hope they locate you.

Don’t worry.

You also say he is hyperactive and intelligent.

You see, the brain uses a lot of energy. More than the any other organ in the body. That’s where all his food is going to.

I am also hyperactive. Very hyperactive. And if eat anything. It digest almost immediately that I begin to feel its reaction in my body.

Once he grow older and learn to be more calm. The foods will be used to build his body.

I am currently at that stage.

Thanks alot for your soothing word

Oga take your son to see an ENT doctor if he breaths through the mouth a lot, that means his nostrils are obstructed!

Either the holes are too small and gets inflammated easily

I have had two surgeries to widen the opens in my nostrils so I can breath well through the nose, not through the mouth like I do some time

If he's not autistic and doing above average in school then there's no need to worry. I think he might be adjusting to pubescent the opposite of how fat kids loss their baby fat as they grow older. Ensure he eats balanced diet, go for medical check up to determine his blood group and genotype, ensure he is spending time with his age mates and as for the opening of mouth dey give am dirty slap anytime u catch am. E go dey alright

Hi guys, please I really need your help.

I have a twelve years old son who is very lanky, he looks d*mn too malnourished for comfort. He was very robust from birth till around the age of 8, when all of a sudden he started depreciating, initially, we thought it was a normal thing, as he was growing taller too, but now, I can't even bring myself to post his pictures on my status. He looks just like 7up's Fido Dido.

Now, this is a boy who eats whatever he wants, he's well fed, and lacks nothing. But with his looks, you will doubt that he's even fed at all. Although he looks far from being healthy, but he rarely falls sick. He's so skiny that whoever sees him, asks us what's wrong with him. Another thing, he always leaves his mouth opened, something that has now affected his teeth. We tried every tricks in the book to stop this, but to no avail, he can hardly keep his lips shut for more than 30 seconds.

Now, he's is a very hyperactive boy and finds it difficult concentrating atimes, but he's well above average in school.

Kindly help with solutions to this problem, it brings tears to my eyes as we have done everything we can think of to reverse this. Recently, a doctor suggested we place him on egg regimen, he now eats 3 eggs daily, but there seems to be no changes whatsoever.
Recommended medications, specialist or hospital we can take him to, preferably in the South West would be highly appreciated.

He's my only child, please help a desperate father!!!🥺

Make sure no hanty is molesting her sexually and he hasn't joined weed smokers. It's possible the liver is over doing things. Bombard him with more rice

Re: My Son Looks Like 7up's Fido Dido, Help!!!! by brainycaleb(m): 2:15am On Feb 29
The father is being selfish, having read the entire article he just wrote, I can deduce that he's only worried about what people would say about him and not about the boy(he mentioned that the boy also eats a lot) and this affirms that people would be saying under their breathe that he is too broke to afford proper meals for the boy and that's the reason the boy is so thin and to add salt to injury, he has only one child to cater for and he can't do it properly! See how lanky the child is!

According to body types, most tall individuals were fat as children, skinny during transition from childhood to teenage years and as a male child, it's hard to gain weight until after about age 22 to 25 years and when approaching 30, they now begin to add more weight to balance up. Its not a rule but...

Just let the child develop at his biological pace. As a boy, he would eat more and you would spend more money in that aspect but he will gain weight later, there are more pressing matters in the country right now, just leave your boy alone!

P.S- please don't ever confront your child about this issue and immediately attack anyone who confronts him about it, even if they're joking! Let him have a sense of safety and security in you.

Father - think back to when the child was 2-3 years. What was the time like for him back then? Did your primary healthcare Dr. or daycare staff ever mentioned anything like ADHD evaluation? especially the inattentive type? Or have you ever thought he might be on the Spectrum? has he been evaluated? Are you considering evaluation? You see, lot of the time if an individual is undiagnosed (especially early) - the world around him or her will never understand why the individual acts the way they do! Do more search and read more on neurodivergent or neurotypical, maybe you will relate better. Per research, these things if undiagnosed affects everything - as in the whole being and social relationships if you will.

All the best.

Take him to pediatric section of UI or LUTH and insist on seeing a Professor or Senior Registrar even if it means tipping the reception nurses.

Is his father skinny? It might be genetics. Being fat doesn't mean healthy, because that brings another set of issues. Place him on protein diets. Out here we have "Ensure Milk". I don't know what y'all have out there. Place him on high protein diets Milk, Eggs, Vegetables and see how it goes. It might be genetics, but remember he is only 12 and still growing and maturing. Hope he is also getting at least 8 hours of sleep. I don't see anything to worry about he is still a kid.

For him to eat 3 eggs a day, it will be suicidal for any homo sapiens to sit next to him because any atomic bomb he releases like this na die.

Back in the 1950's, my father was a little boy and his own unique health challenge was each time he slept, his eyes would be wide open

His parents were well to do , and so they went to the best hospitals around to no avail

Finally, they took him to the village where he was cured by a blind traditional herbalist and to this day, he has never had such a problem again.

The reason I am sharing this story with you, op, is this, everything no be western medicine

If they can't find a solution to his mouth staying open always, take the boy to your village and ask the locals, they are good traditional healers that may have the solution you seek.

Yo! I’m slim like that too!

What you can do is give him more meals and snacks between meals.

He has a faster metabolism which makes his food digest faster than normal and then his body begins to digest his body fat.

On a daily, he loses more calories than he takes in

Give him more meals and snacks. You can add Ensure drink to his daily meal intake.

You can also track him a few exercises like push ups and wrist exercises to bulk his looks.

Do not do running exercises, those are for weight loss.

Good luck.

For you to write on this, someone needs to commend you.And all the comments should be appreciated at least, some have made you laugh.

You needs to believe in the boy that he would change. That is the first thing you need BELIEVE.

Aside, you needs to go deeper in your family and that the Mother history,do you have precedent. If you have it is a matter of time.

Then u can go to hospital for check up to ascertain his well being.

I was like that growing up, back then people will whisper in my moms ear that she needs to give me (worm expeller) combantrin and blood tonic. All that shit didn't change a thing.
I was brilliant, was involved in football, cricket, lawn tennis for my secondary school. The only downside for my lanky or skinny built was

I had a fracture while playing football at the age of 12.
Looking at my look now, the neck bone is not showing , not fat but every sign of bone is long gone.
My submission sir, give him calcium supplement, make sure he engage in a sport of choice and pray to God.... I'm an only child and I understand your plight .
All is week that ends well

He'll put on more weight as time goes by but as it stands, he has a FAST metabolism.

So, your son is an ectomorph in terms of body size. He can start weight training before he hits his 20th birthday and follow strictly the diet plan for ectomorphs (hard gainers).

Pls take him to a tertiary hospital.
Even at that... let him see the paediatric dietetics since his age is borderline for paediatrics now.
They should run some tests and if nothing... start diet for him.
His BMI should be within normal should be the target.
All d best

He is a mouth breather means his nostrils is too narrow to use for breathing. This plays a major role in his being lanky. His lungs his not being developed please see an orthodontist

Thanks a lot...we haven't visited one yet, just regular Doctors, GPs.
I'm sorry, I didn't read the entire thread because I always try to filter out noise in certain situations but I'm guessing the doctors you met said there's nothing to worry about but just to be damn sure, go to any teaching or military hospital in your state of residence and let them run a diagnosis on him, maybe they'll suggest tests to be run and maybe it's just nothing. I have a childhood friend with this same scenario, different from his siblings because he was like a broom but by the time we were rounding up our teenage years, BOOM he bulked up like a body builder. It's normal for parents to be worried in this sort of situation so, just go to the hospital one more time and if the doctors give you an all clear then, ask to see their nutritionist. The aspect of him opening his mouth constantly will be sorted out by school mates or by his crush when he gets to JS3 or SS1, they'll yab composure into him grin so you better make him your paddy man and reward him whenever he closes his mouth for an hour. I don't want to bore you with long talk but back in the day, holidays with extended family members would have sorted this thing out due to socialization which would have been good for him as an only child but now, you just have to accept the gradual process. Don't just stress your head please
