The Nigerian National Schools Team Chess Championship 2024.


Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF) is planning a National Schools Team Chess Championship for the year 2024.

This year’s championship will feature 100 secondary schools and 100 primary schools across Nigeria with 5 players from each school, totaling 200 players.

There are very attractive prizes for winners of both junior and senior categories, the winners will be awarded the National School Chess Champion in Nigeria.

The organizers - The Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF) stated that the winners will also be representing Nigeria at the World School Team Chess Championship at Uzbeskistan later this year! Although, according to our source the world school team chess tournament for this year 2024 can not verified yet as the world body for chess (FIDE) do not have "World Schools Team Chess Championship on her calendar for this year 2024.


NCF wrote: "We are glad to let you know this year’s event has been sponsored by Ecobank, hence they’re the lead sponsor.

This is an opportunity for you as a chess tutor and school administrator to get you and your school involved in this championship that will feature some of the best schools across Nigeria."

Of worthy of note is that a similar event was organized by the NCF last year but with a little spread. Many schools did not know about it because the information came out really late. Plaform Schools, Ipaja, Lagos. won and enjoyed an all expense paid trip represented Nigeria at the world school team chess championship.
