Mercy Akide is the Assistant Director of Teams/Director of Community Programming for Steel United, Virginia, a youth football team in the United States where she lives with her husband, Colin Udoh, a well known sports journalist.

She has coached many youth teams in the United States and she was the first CAF African Women's Footballer of the Year, a title that she won in 2001.

I believe that she and her husband went to watch Oshoala's game against Washington Spirit in DC.

Mercy Akide got Nigeria's only goal.

Asisat Oshoala scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists as Barcelona defeated Christy Ucheibe's Benfica in the UEFA Women's Champions League in October 2022. Her first goal was voted goal of the week in the Champions League, but that's not why I am posting this.
