Ladoja Faults The Position Of Some Ibadan Chiefs On Olubadan Stool by Tmex(m): 11:57pm On Apr 10
The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has faulted the position of some Ibadan High Chiefs over the health status of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

Ladoja while addressing newsmen after Eid-el-Fitri prayer at his residence on Wednesday in Ibadan, said that the comments were mere expression of personal opinions since the chiefs were not medical personnel.

Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abimbola Ajibola was recently quoted by media as saying the Olubadan designate is sick and needs time to get well before his coronation.

“Has anyone seen him since last Friday? Those who attempted to visit him after Friday were unsuccessful. They are coercing him. We should allow him to recuperate”, he said.

However, Ladoja told newsmen that such views were speculative and not based on medical facts.

“The comments of Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and others on the health status of Olubadan designate are mere personal opinions which should be disregarded.

“All persons who have been speaking on Olubadan designate’s health are not medical personnel thereby they lack merits to speak.

“Only God can determine lifespan, who to become king and how long a person will last on the throne,” he said.

The former governor said that a meeting to take decision on issues concerning Olubadan stool has been fixed for Friday.

He said that the case he filled in court on issues bothering on Olubadan stool was to defend his right against the threat by some Ibadan High Chiefs that collected crown because he refused to join them.

He expressed his willingness to withdraw the case once they corporate with him in the interest of peace of Ibadanland.

Ladoja said that if he eventually becomes Olubadan of Ibadanland, he would not victimise any High Chief that purportedly collected.

“There are standing rules forbidding other person to wear crown in the Olubadan palace except Olubadan alone.

“The crown collected by Ibadan High Chiefs are just to enhance their prestige, which does not affect Olubadan tradition and process.

“They are free to wear their crown as they like but not in Olubadan’s palace because there cannot be two people wearing crown in Olubadan palace, “he said.

Thats where the problem is. It is the turn of a line not a person. If the senior person from that line is not available, does the line forfeit its turn or they go with the most senior person from the same line?

This is getting messy now, because if olakulehin isn't fit medically for the throne, will the balogun, the warrior's line forfeit their turn, for the agbagba's, the elder line, which has ladoja as the most senior in that line, or will it be given to the next most senior in balogun line, which is ajibola.

On the Olubadan designate and stool, I stand with Cheif Rashidi Ladoja.
Only God can determine who becomes king and how long he will last on the throne.

The Olubadan kingship can be a ceremonial throne, it doesn't allow two kings wear crown in the Olubadan palace. That is a binding rule that shouldn't be tampered with.

It goes to the next person they don’t replace people in line. They have got to change the idea of line up it is disservice to Oyo people.

This question has been answered by Ekerin Olubadan,Hamidu Ajibade, he said it will be given to the next person in that line and not the second angle.. I don't like this arrangement though

The ibadan royal stool is not like other monarchy. The most senior chief is always next in line. That’s how it has been and that’s how it will always be. Irrespective of health status , the most senior Cheif has to die before another Cheif becomes ibadan designate.

Rumour has it that Oba Olakunlehin is bed ridden and can't ascend the throne..
In that case, the next in line (Ladoja) will take over, their line will miss its turn.
And if the rumor is true, its in the best interest of everybody that Ladoja steps in, we can't afford to be coronating every year, spending unnecessary funds

Based on my knowledge, The olubadan is not by line or family, it is by your rank. It starts when you become a magaji, then you start to rise.

So, if someone is unfit, I think they will pick d next in rank.

Traditional stool is now being politicized maybe some chiefs have had the palms greased with some money to raise unnecessary false alarm.

He has to wait his turn.
With all this his shenanigans, he thinks people won't make issues for him too when its his time abi

He is a minority here
He can only have his say , can't have his way.
He for no go withdraw the court cases now.

My joy is that Makinde has seen that this man just like making trouble and has since distanced himself from him. How can only you behave as if you are Wiser than everybody

Nothing like second angle...the both lines are lines..

It moves to the next in line which is Ladoja.

Irrespective of where the next high ranking chief is, either the civil or military line..the most senior of the two on the line is the next Olubadan.

Even if Olakulehin will not be king, the next king will come from the same line too. So baba Ladoja should rest.
Yes he is the person that will nominate the Olubadan designate as the head of the line that's not producing Olubadan
