Police wants to lord over everything, very bad idea over the years the police has not been in the good book so why suggesting others to merged to one. The state police idea isn't a bad one they should make strong laws not allow the state governors and politicians not to use them against each other and mases in general anything that will bring a lasting peace is welcomed.

You see what we are talking about. These agencies were created to carry out different functions why merging. Practice true federalism, create state police.

State Police should be supported. Policing is a local stuff and should be localized in Nigeria. One person in far away Abuja shouldn't be the one overseeing the activities of police in our local communities.

You can see how OSPAC and vigilantes are effective in tackling kidnapping and armed robbery within their localities.

While it's good for different arms of federal policing (NPF, NSCDC, EFCC, FRSC etc) to operate from under the same umbrella, it is wrong to say Nigeria is not ripe for state police.
Infact, Nigeria is even over ripe for local government police as the genesis of most crimes starts from local government level.

Time without numbers, it has been proven that the federal police cannot effectively police a large and complex structure like the Nigerian state.
If a state governor does not have full control of his/her state security, he can't sanction negligence, can't curb impunity can't sack criminal and corrupt entities in the security setup, what will a local government chairman be able to do , talk less of counselor and likes...

Crimes starts from a street and a community under a local government area, under a state, and under a country, as such, policing should also be along that hierarchies and jurisdiction with the federal police being the ultimate and overall head.

Haha hahahaha, very true. But he spoke the truth sha. FRSC and the Civil Defence people, in my opinion, were created for political expediency. There's nothing these guys do that is not represented in the police.
