Group Managing Director of Union Bank of Nigeria (UBN) Plc, Mrs. Funke Osibodu, has been named by a global jury of experts constituted by Financial Times of London as one of the world’s 50 leading businesswomen.

Osibodu was chosen in recognition of her impeccable turnaround at Union Bank, where the jury noted she was” responsible for strengthening the management of the bank, improving discipline and ensuring transparency.”

The Union Bank boss is the only African woman and  Nigerian that made the top 50 businesswomen list. The jury applauded Osibodu’s roles in the Nigerian economy, pointing out that she “is a high-profile figure in Nigeria’s business community.”

The selection particularly underscored the contribution of Osibodu to the stability of Nigerian financial services sector and economic growth, pointing out the importance of Union Bank as one of “Nigeria’s biggest banks.”

While not belittling the success of the CMD? For heaven's sake how on earth did a rescued bank turn around over night using the Nigeria state resources become one of Nigeria's biggest banks? Biggest in terms of what?

Airmark,i know what am saying,alot things happen underground which u may not be aware of e.g when she was appointed to restructure the so called distressed union bank in acting capacity,1st thing she did was to buy status cars of 63 million naira from globe motors with money from the distressed bank.time will tell my friend just be noting it down.

I don't understand how people interpret a write up. The achievement was based on the turn around of Union bank that she contributed to and not whether she embezzled money or the present state of the bank.

Let us learn to appreciate people when they do well so that we can be appreciated too. Thank God she was selected by a foreign jury and not Nigerian.

i dey laugh o.cecilia ibru received so many awards locally and internationally even bankers forum give oceanic bank numerous awards but when yawa gas who remember d award she collect?she was rubbished bigtime.wetin funke do for union bank?the whole distress story na big lie,bank wey dem say dem inject money to rescue and later made profit far more than d money they injected but they falsify records and say d bank is stil distressed. make dem dey wrap amala for hamper as cake for you.like i said earlier time will tell,just note it down.even sanusi wey get power pass jonathan,mallam devalution.9ja we 2 dey decieve oursef.
