Have you ever had someone close to you commit suicide? Or did you know someone who did? Did they display any signs before they did it? This topic is not talked about alot on here so i decided to make a thread. Hope it'll make Front page so that people can learn from the stories of others.

My own story is not that of any relatives but of someone who lived in our neighborhood. The odd thing about it was that this guy was from the richest family in our neighborhood, very popular guy. Days before he killed himself, he gave out alot of his very expensive stuffs to less privileged guys in the neighborhood including like his laptop, tv, clothes and other things. His parents thought baba just wanted to bless people out of generosity ohh, not knowing he was preparing for his journey to the great beyond. The guy locked his door and drank snipper. When the pains began to set in, dude was screaming so loud his parents called neighbours to break the door. When they opened his room, some parts of his body had turned red in colour, saliva and blood everywhere, dude hugged his father so tight with tears in his eyes, the man too was crying likes a child. He later died on the way to hospital. That sh*t had me sad for days. I usually thought it was only people who struggle financially that opted for suicide. Never thought rich people too do that sh*t.

Maybe one daughter of Eve infected the man with HIV and he can't live with the shame not knowing the disease can be managed.

This is sad and unfortunate. May we be strong to conquer all battles during trying times. 😢

The frightening thing about suicide is that the person is at peace once they finally make plans to do it. They are even elated making it more difficult for those around them to actually guess/stop the act.

Most people swear that their loved one didn’t commit suicide because they were “happy” and showed no “signs “ of ending their lives.

The most important time to help people is when they are going through depression. Don’t leave them alone, instead try to find ways to help them. That’s the only window you have to save them.

A guy in my former compound I lived also took sniper after using his Boss money to play baba ijebu and loss. Thank God for quick intervention, we gave him red oil to drink, and the mum also gave him something to to drink from her church. And now he is doing better for himself and the family.

A boy of less than 15 years did similar thing because they didn't allow him to use phone, suicide is not the way out at the point of severe pain regret would set in and no going back

I've heard a lot, seen a lot and witnessed a few but none was close to me personally, but some, professionally.

Many guys that I know have put bullets through their skulls and one happened just last week.

The dude was in between, not too quiet and not very forthcoming either, a fine gentleman to the core, accomplished veteran who moved on to private military and made quite a fortune for himself. No wife, no kid, just in and out of relationships few times. Theo was a good man. Why he did what he did, I can't say.

In my experience, one thing to look out for in these extremely depressed guys is sudden show of happiness.

Just like I've seen good guys commit suicide, I've also seen bad guys do the same. The most recent bad guy that killed himself that I know of somehow picked up a tiny sharp stick on the ground while being walked to a location, went back to the inside, cut a vein in his wrist and bled all through the night while pretending to be asleep. He channeled his blood to a broken wall and no one saw the blood until he was almost completely drained and dead by morning.

Life is good, just live it the best you can.

There was this former neighbor of ours who committed suicide simply because he was owing a debt of 2m . That man death really pained me cha.....A very funny man he was...

It is about financial problems. I didn't really understand depression until one of my ex went through it, though we haven't seen for long but her WhatsApp stats became troubling so I had to reach out and found out what she is going through and trust me money has never been her problem. I help her through that phase, it is something deep in the subconscious.

Suicidal thoughts are very dangerous and most times it is usually because of depression, often times financial constraints, you just want to end it all, it is really difficult.
Now the economy is not helping, I read a tweet somewhere today where a lady said she is surprised at how Nigerians are quiet as to how difficult it is to even eat now because the price of everythibg has shot up through the roof, and I said to myself, alot of people are dying inside of them and it will get to a point that ensing it all will seem like a good idea.
Have I thought of suicide before? Yes. Why didn't I go through with it? Till today I don't know, but taking it one day at a time is helping me a lot. The funny thing is I never shared my thoughts with anyone but my wife noticed my sleepless nights and she always stood up to pray once I'm awake, she didn't force me or ask me to join her she just sang praises and prayed, I joined it sometimes and I cry sometimes too but in all I thank God
