Matthew 18:6
“But if you cause one of these little ones who trust in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

The above quote caught my attention just a minute ago. I read it 3 times, reflected and mediated about it and I became immersed by the Wow factor. This is the word of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He was separating Sin from its source. It was like separating the SEED from the FRUIT. Without the seed there can be no fruit. Likewise without a cause, there can be no sin. Let’s get down to basics.

What is sin?
We live in a culture where the concept of sin has become entangled in legalistic arguments over right and wrong. When many of us consider "What is sin?" we think of violations of the Ten Commandments. Even then, we tend to think of murder and adultery as "major" sins compared with lying, cursing, or idolatry. Solomon, David’s son, wrote in Proverbs 15:26, “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD.” This is because God knows that, if unchecked, wicked thoughts always produce wicked actions. The keyword is PRODUCE. What produces wicked and sinful actions? The thoughts of the wicked. Who are the wicked? The carriers/couriers of wicked and sinful thoughts.

This article/write up is not about pointing fingers. Nay! “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). Christ said in John 8:7, “He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.” But in the same bible, Isaiah 59:1-2 tell us that God says that your sins separate you from Him .He cannot hear your prayers, He cannot speak to you through His Word, unless you first repent—change your life—from the way of sin. Hmmm.
Sin on its own is bad enough, but to cause another human to sin is far worse. How can we cause another person to sin? Jesus said we are better off cutting those things that cause us to sin (Mark 9:43-47) O dear! That hurts but it is the gospel truth.

CONCLUSION
Is it your attitude, mouth, feet, eyes or persona that is causing a brother or sister to sin? Jesus said it is better for those who fall into this cluster to be cast into the sea of forgetfulness. Do you fall into this crowd? The eyes of the Lord are on you and we will all give account for all our deeds on the day of Judgement.
