Best racing "games" I played

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA/Black box) and Hot Pursuit (EA/Criterion)

Burnout: Takedown. (The same EA and Criterion made the Burnout series, )

Forza motorsport was dead boring when I tried my hands on it, just plain racing Gran Turismo wanna be in my opinion

I also think Split second takes a cue from Burnout

Dont play video games nowadays but Gran Turismo is the best simulation car race out there.its real and can actually make u a professional driver.NFS and co are just a lil immature in ma opinion.

What most people that commented are not saying is which version of the games they played. Some versions of some games sucked.

Need for Speed: The Run (Not good)
Need for Speed: Undercover (Not good)
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (Very good)

No. That title belongs to GTR 2 and soon to be GTR 3 (Honourable mention: Forza 3 and Forza 4). Shift 2 Unleashed is one of the worst racing game i have played in my life.

NEED FOR SPEED: MOST WANTED on ps2 is my best racing game ever non lyk it!

I'll never forget how Midnight Club 2 frustrated me but looking back, I realise that I LOVE it.Its great having a good challenge (no not Halo's legendary mode).Burnout 3:Takedown was also good even though I didn't like Burnout 4(?):Revenge. To me NFS is just "meh",stopped being good a long time ago (porsche unleashed/challenge).

Need for Speed sucks.

I much prefer the Burnout series for its blistering sense of speed, pure carnage and chaos. Taking Down your opponents feels oh-so-good.
Other arcadey car racing games I like are Project Gotham Racing 2 and 3, Grid, and Midnight Club.
I wouldnt consider Mario Kart to really be a car racing game, but I'll just add that the best Mario Kart game was the one on the N64. Series pretty much went downhill after that, though the Mario Kart games on the Gameboy Advance and DS were decent.

BURNOUT is the coolest racing game ever

I've played "Road Rash" it is a nice racing game.

On PC? there isn't.
Need for speed left the competition permanently behind with NFS 3 - Hot pursuit and sealed it with NFS 9 - Most Wanted.
Yeah, I have played every need for speed game except NFS 4 - High stakes and the only beautiful letdowns (gameplay & storywise) are NFS 7 - Underground & NFS 12 - Undercover.

The gameplay is awesome, the races even more so, but I can only say so much, some things you just have to see for yourself.
I personally recommend the following titles: NFS 9 - Most Wanted, NFS 10 - Carbon, NFS - Hot Pursuit 2010 and NFS - The Run, Play them in this order if you can. Every NFS game is a totally different experience.

The only worthy competitors I can personally vouch for are:

1. Collin McRae Dirt Series (1,2,3)
2. TOCA Race Driver Series
3. Midnight Club 2 (The only game I probably played more than NFS)
4. Burnout Paradise (My favourite when I get fits of road rage)
5. Insane 2 (Just like burnout but off-road)

I've heard some good things about Blur, sadly most racing games are too linear with little reason to keep playing, graphics isn't everything

Racing Games You Should Avoid, unless you're desperate and have nothing else:

1. Juiced 2
2. Split Second
3. Grid (Just play NFS Shift or Shift 2 instead), all those complaining about realism, NFS is an arcade racer like Burnout with occasional Pure Sim releases like ProStreet and Shift 2 that beat GRID hands down, even in the crashes.

my first need for speed game was NFS 2, which i kinda played to death back in 2002 (its great looking back to see how far the NFS games have come), NFS 3 was hard for me though, and NFS 5 had some crazy simulation to it, underground wasn't so good, thank God for NFS Most Wanted, played it a little, my bro has probably spent a third of his life behind the dashboard of NFS games so i kinda just watched him play all the NFS games and got the hang and feel of each NFS we got our hands on, you just have to admit the thrill of speeding,

hot pursuit 2 is great as well, shift is simulation so u don't get to do 'anyhow' when racing,

burnout paradise is still my coolest insane racing game, i especially love the takedowns, very sweet, there are times when i just want to crash my car and watch it wreck in slow motion,
insane 2 is also one of my favourites, i love it as it reminds me of Monster Truck Madness 2 of the late 90's,

NFS is overall the best racing game i have played, since am not a console dude, i can't say much about gran tourismo and the other console games,

GRId and Forza motorsports are my best car racing games. They are far better  than Need for Speed.

NFS is a very cool game and it is one of the best top racing games and i would like to suggest the big competitor of this game is Asphalt series and its versions are 5 and 6 so guys please play and than decide.

I like to play Need for Speed, especially Need for Speed: underground but more than this I love Forza Motorsports 4 and I think it is the best racing game ever.

Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, Burnout, etc are all considerably better than NFS. Blimey, even the likes of F1 2011 and MotorStorm have overtaken NFS!

I dunno if I ever replied this but here we are: NFS:MW was so good they remade it. A game's age has nothing to do with how good it is.

BTW in my estimation NFS:MW (2005) is the best NFS to date.
