Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by spyemy(m): 5:52am On Jan 27, 2009
test render of the new skin shader in maya using mental ray vs a textured lambert render time 3 secs,   the lighting consists of 2 directional light,   I am actually working on the textures for the female character I posted above, so I am doing a lot of test renders for skin, hair etc,  check out the new maya skin shader passes,  this render is without the mental ray passes feature. it is mind blowing, just plain,  \. and the lighting i used is not even a 3-type fill, rim and object light technique  it is just 2 directional lights,  I will post the complete image and lip sync animation when I finish choa,

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by xothermik(m): 9:49am On Jan 30, 2009
if my cg eyes are on cue again. i dont think there's much of a texture there.at least not a fully generic plane one. it looks exactly like a model i did years ago when learnin basic modeling. its an actual sphere modified and the grooves extruded inward and given a different material i.d and finally a multi sub material with jus two materials was used a typical black with some glossiness for the groove part and for the bumpy part the second second material shud have some sort of noise map or a kind of specky bitmap for the bump map and an orang diffuse map.
@cg king wonder what this ur lil girl's up 2. shes been runnin up stairs wit lunch boxes, openin doors and now playin basket ball. hmm.
@grafikdon. hey is idara's earing super glued to the buttom of her ear? grin

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by CGKing(m): 11:11pm On Jan 31, 2009
@Kemi,
Hi bro, it is not a texture per se. I dont know how to explain it to you
but if you want the model and the textures I used, I could send them to you.
They arent textures really, they are materials.

@ xothermik,
Bros, long time. Its not the babe o, I left her long ago, it a brother, from
another mother and it is an entirely new thing i am on currently.

@ namzo,
I really love your drawing/painting up there. Very good in 2d, Im sure, Pls can I see some more, here or privately if that
will be convenient for you.

@ all
a shot from a current animated project

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by sojioguns(m): 12:05pm On Feb 02, 2009
@Kemjisuper, There is a lot of intersection between the character's skin and clothes. The cloth engine in Poser obviously cannot handle the tasks accurately. If you want to do serious character animation you need to move on to dedicated apps.
Another thing, please stop trying to texture skin in Poser, do it in other apps.
