Jonathan to open Ibeshe cement plant

The multi-billion dollar Dangote Cement plant, located at Ibese, Ogun State will be opened on Thursday by　President Goodluck Jonathan.






The new plant, according to a statement, has an installed capacity of six million metric tons of cement per year.

When opened, Dangote Cement’s total capacity will be 20.25million metric tons of cement per year with Obajana Cement producing 10.25 million metric tons per year and Gboko Plant with an installed capacity of four million metric tons.

"We are marking the closing ceremony of cement import in Nigeria with the coming on stream of our Ibese cement plant, which will be producing a combined six-million tons per annum from its initial two lines while addition two will be added immediately to increase its production to 12 million tons per annum," the management of Dangote Cement said at the weekend.

President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, had said his organisation was taking up the challenge to lead the way in the effort of making the nation self-reliant in cement production as the nation was losing huge sums in foreign exchange to importation.



He said the desire of the Dangote Cement is to ensure the country not only moves away from export of certain commodities, of which cement is one, but to strengthen the local production capacity to make her exporting nation and increase her foreign reserve

What is ur problem? the man is atleast investing in his country and providing jobs unlike others who prefer to use their ill gotten wealth to build houses abroad and save in foreign accounts. why are u so bitter? If u have the means, y dnt u open ur own cement company and see if its easy,

The one from Okene Juction? Then i should ask, when last did you ply that road? I can drive on cruise control with both of my eyes closed on that road. Dantata and sewoe construction company handled that road with great  finesse.

Permit to add that, you are just an ignorant of Dangote's activities, if you can spew the above trash. No other person in this country that employs Nigerians like Dangote or are you going to tell us something new? Very wrong reasoning, anyone could be invited to commission any project depending on the level of significance attached to it . . .The Julius berger self financed building donated to the University of Lagos was commissioned by President Obasanjo . . .and that was just a building . . .How much more a project with such massive potential and capacity to improve the Nigerian economy. . .

Did Dangote prevent you from building a cement factory?

dangote is definitely not a very wonderful employer but he really employs so many in this country, he is investing in nigeria , in africa and i applaud him for that, afterall. others stash the cash in european banks with no effect in nigerian lives

I really do not see the point to this considering this is a private entity run entirely with private money and near no government penny in it.

I was at the cement factory at around September last year to purge a gas pipeline and i must say that the factory is truly world class. Mainly used for the labour there were Chinese citizens, too bad the people of the community didnt push for slots to work there
