Considering the amount of money Governor Godswill Akpabio receives as a monthly budget which is higher than that of ImO state, he should be able to provide free education up to the higher institutions because Akwa Ibom,s got the money instead of throwing it around for receiving awards, giving to churches and at social functions. Atleast every akwa ibomite will benefit from this one. AKwa Ibom Isongo!!!

i hope all this so called 'free education' will be worth students while. the last time I checked, nothing good comes easy and nothing qualitative comes free.

That crook of a Gov would not do such. Instead, he will be going around buying chieftaincy titles, paying for awards and paying journalists and television owners to trumpet his 'visible' achievements.That guy call Akpabio is bereft of ideas. Akwa Ibom State should have a first class university now but what do we have, moribond blocks of classes which is worse than his village primary school.We lack industries in that state because the so called Gov has legalised criminality and kidnapping inspite of all the huge revenue he collects from the federation accounts. All you hear him say is ' we would industralise Akwa Ibom' How and when is what is left for us to decipher. Our homeland earns more than all the North Eastern states combined and we cannot pay the basic minimum wage of 18,000.00.I am privy to know that our wage bill (Civil Servants ) in 2009 wasnt more than 1, 300,000,000.00 and even if it has increased since then, at what percentage and is the increase commensurate or more than what the state earns AS ALLOCATION FROM THE FEDERATION ACCOUNT?WE SING PRAISES OF THIS AKPABIO WITHOUT TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE FACT THAT HE COLLECTS ABOUT 24-29 BILLION AS ALLOCATION FROM THE FEDERATION ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH AND HE HAS ONLY ROAD PROJECTS TO SHOW FOR THIS HUGE SUMS.We should start holding our public officials accountable, praise when we need to praise and criticise when there is a basis for criticisms.To me, akpabio should show direction to Rochas Okorocha as he sits on more funds than Okorocha does.

The performance of Gov Akpabio to me has been overrated and over-hyped. The major think this guy could boast of always, has always been road, road, and road. Is road construction now a yardstick in measuring and assessing good governance. He has impoverish the people by not creating jobs, but would rather pursue unnecessary big project that has no direct benefit to the poor, just to gain popularity in the media. Selfishness

People living outside Akwa Ibom are easily deceived that all is rosy. Workers have not had their pay for the past two months, yet all we hear and see on the news is what a great leader the Gov. is. No doubt he has transformed the look of the state, but for the ordinary citizen of the state it is hard to survive. No jobs, no industry to even apply; and above all the so called free Pri/Sec education lacks teachers.

There is NO need for large number of graduates who can't get jobs or are out-rightly unemployable.
Anything free in Africa(especially Naija) is always poorly managed.
Some people have stated here that the free primary/sec education  in AKS lacks teachers and the basic facilities.
This(Primary/sec) is the basic education. So that is what we should press on the gov't to improve
the quality of these schools, provide qualified teachers, provided incentives for self development of present teachers.  

The government should also set precedence for vocational education. The present madness about university education is
not the solution to our problem, but the quality of the education people get in these glorified secondary schools(Some Uni).
While I blame the governors of different states(Akpabio included), I think we should also blame our representatives who are
even closer to us than the governors. They should be able to prevail on the governors to do something right and enact
meaningful policies. Rather they go there for their selfish reasons. If all assembly members agree in one voice and call the
attention to a particular need of the people, do U think the governor wont oblige?

I can see that all this replies no doubt is coming from people who are so blind, or maybe not but are suffering from high level myopic and watery sycophantic syndrome. Mind you the allocation Gov Attah received throughout the eight of his tenure, is what AkpaEbot is getting in one year, With nothing to show for apart from road and media ranting. ON his valedictory speech Attah was categorical, that due to the anticipated increase in the allocation to the state, that he AkpaEbot will have no excuse, but to pay the Approve minimum wage. But the money he's been getting has even quadruple, and still he can't pay salaries talkless of new minimum wage. He says he didn't fancy indigenous contractors, but the same man his bringing in his in-laws to jobs which indigens should have.
