What in their pre Man Utd profile makes David Gill a football CEO and not Ed Woodward?

Both were accountants from non football background

Before Woodward Man Utd was signing Veron, Bebe and David Bellion. You think if it wasnt Ferguson working magic with whatever he had those misjudgments wont show

I will tell you if Woodward also was CEO under Ferguson he would have been a successful football CEO

I give up 😁
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by akwesenana: 12:05am On Jan 24
Bebe's signing was due to Ferguson relying heavily on Jorge Mendes' word and nothing else.

Maybe na coach dey extend contract too
I don't even know what the fvckin problem is with united but wetin I know na say no be how dem suppose dey run proper club be that
True, reason some of us are excited about the incoming C.E.O. If he manages to overhaul the entire management structure of the Club, maybe fans can now fully focus on blaming the Manager if result on the pitch doesn't improve...

Haha I know your type.

Read the last paragraph in which I answered this and still asked the same question. Discussions with you is all about not conceding. Lmao.

What is the evidence you have shown that Omar is a football CEO and Woodward is not

Mine is simple what makes Gill a football CEO and not Woodward given their profile. If football CEO is the difference between successful club and an unsuccessful one
You are narrowing it down to CEO which is not the bone of contention. What folks here clamoured for is a rejig of the management team across the board from the youth set-up to the scouting to the DOF role to the CEO...

The structure we've been shouting about for years is finally being built. And it's looking more impressive than we ever imagined.

*Sir Dave Brailsford as Sports Director for inneos.
* Omar as CEO
* Dan Ashworth as football director
*Hopefully Paul Mitchell as head of recruitment.

If this gets matched with good investments, even average managers will thrive.

I thought Blanc was pencilled down for a role, no?

Initial report suggested he would be the next United C.E.O, until the news of Oma Berrada broke.

The news died down last week. Thought he was going be the CEO as well. But satisfied with the choice we made.

Going by this same logic, is it not safe to say DDG was over performing?

New Manchester United Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada used Harry Maguire as an example of how not to do transfer business during his column with the Athletic.

The former City CFO stated, “when you make investments of that type [rushing to sign a player], when you get it wrong it has a significant impact over many years so we needed to get it [Dias’ transfer] right at the right valuation at the right time but more importantly for the right player”.

“In the same way that we didn’t rush into buying a centre-back last season after not wanting to sign Maguire for that valuation, this summer we had a very clear idea of what we wanted and fortunately we got the player we wanted at the valuation that we wanted”.

Moving on from Omar's words, from a fan perspective, You don’t need to be a football finance expert to know that a major flaw of the Old Trafford side’s post-Ferguson era is panic buying players for an obscene amount of money.

Maguire is an obvious example but the £70m on Casemiro after chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer has already been flagged up by INEOS and they may even be willing to lose £20m to part ways with the midfielder.

Antony is another ludicrous example of panic overpaying for a player. Club scouts labelled the player as a £25m player but United went on to panic at the end of the 2022 window and pay an eye-watering £82.2m to get the deal over the line.

I hope we get it right this time with transfer

Good riddance.

The whole first team player negotiations and transfer department ought to be replaced if you think about it. They’ve been absolute bs for the better part of the last decade.

.
We were solid last season Sha. We mostly had consistent pairings in front of the GK. And a Casemiro performing at his best shielding the back 4. Context matters.

If we dig deep into the operations of the club last 10 years or so, you'd understand the reason this club is a death trap for any manager. I don't care how good you are. You come here, you fail.

Anthony Martial has completed surgery to address a groin complaint.

❗️ Martial will be out of action for 10 weeks.

French striker will stay at Man United until the end of the season and then leave the club as free agent in June.

If they even paid asking price, it will be better. I think they end up paying more than the initial asking price

🚨🇨🇲| Onana could miss four Premier League games, two FA Cup matches, two League Cup fixtures and a Champions League knockout game if he decides to continue playing for Cameroon. With Bayindir inexperienced and yet to make his United debut, Ten Hag will hope Onana's decision to return for Cameroon was a one-off and he does not play in the Africa Cup of Nations.
