I just de see certain sports in this Olympics that I feel Nigerians will excel at if given the proper preparations. Why are we not participating in canoeing, water Polo, marathon swimming, regular swimming, sailing when we get militants here ever ready to dive in deep into the sea beds to place bombs on pipelines? We get quick fire policemen in this country yet we are not participating archery, rifle and pistol shooting. Olympics don de finish yet we no get any medal to show for.

Nigeria is a very useless country. Gone are the days when talents are recruited from NUGA competitions and you would be proud to wear the Green-White-Green for international competitions. These days, if you ever see the Green-White-Green color in display, just know that it is aso-ebi things.

Go and ask Mikel Obi how much he has been spending of his own money as caretaker for the U23. If you have talent or you know any of your friends or family that has any, abeg tell them to leave that country and make their way to Bahrain or any of these talent developing countries to excel.

it's actually shameful now, the kind of embarrassment that these athletes faced before stepping into Rio. Imagine our under 23 being stranded in their training base in Atlanta for 3 f'cking days and arriving mere hours before their kickoff against Japan, to top it all, like you pointed out, they are being owed their due wages. The sports minister on the other hand is making things worse, he has no idea about his job. This is the sports minister that it took 6 whole months before he was appointed, one would have thought that the FG was appointing a decent enough candidate for the job. Other athletes are also complaining about the treatment that they are receiving from the Nigerian officials in Rio, simple stuff, Nigeria can't do, but if it's to pad the budget and embezzle public funds, they don't waste time.

Are you surprised? MOURINHO is involved so the claws must come out. This is what every coach does and don't get bashed, but once Mourinho does it, all hell is let loose. Dumb hypocrites everywhere.

Klopp did it to Balotelli.
Zidane did it to Rodriguez {giving him little game time}
LvG did it to Valdez.... The list is endless.

Na them sabi, I dont bother myself with such useless gossips. I love Schweinsteiger, but if Mourinho doesn't want him, he needs to leave or work hard to gain the man's trust again.

elampiro:

Only three players have more pass accuracy than Rooney. Mata just slightly above him. Rooney even had 7/9 accurate long balls.

Again Mata had same number of unsuccessful touches as Rooney (4), even though Mata spent less time on the pitch. So why is it that it is only Rooney’s own you saw?

My guy the season is just starting, some of these players are still getting match fitness. Only Eric Bailly has been training since June.
That doesn't show how many times we lost possession in different thirds due to Rooney bad touches and control especially when attacking.

"It is a super league and I would like to stay here as long as possible,"

"Now, there are two or three clubs in the world, that if they come for me, it definitely makes you think, if you understand what I am trying to say."

- Riyad Mahrez

If you are wondering the reason Vardy, Kante ignored Arsenal..... then read to comprehend the above message!

He wishes to remain in the Premier League, and only 3 Clubs can tempt him..... obviously United is among the 3 Clubs!

5 REASONS WE LOVE ERIC BAILLY

BAILLY IS A BEAST

Standing over six feet tall and weighing a muscular 12 stones, Eric is a force to be reckoned with and his imposing style has already bruised the opposition – namely Josh King, following a thumping collision at Bournemouth on Sunday. The 22-year-old is no slow coach, either, as Leicester’s Jamie Vardy will vouch for following his entertaining duel with our new no.3 in the FA Community Shield at Wembley. The pertinent example arrived on 23 minutes when the Foxes striker tried to round him inside the box, but was matched for pace and dispossessed via a perfectly-timed sliding tackle. Bailly has since been compared to both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, which is slightly premature – although he does wield an obvious blend of silk and steel that underpinned that iconic partnership.

PRESSURE, WHAT PRESSURE?

Many fans had not heard of Bailly when his transfer from Villarreal was announced on 6 June and it was reported that United had paid around £30million for his services. That figure placed a weight of expectation on his young shoulders and he was under pressure to impress, but you wouldn’t know judging by his early performances. Eric has confidently shown his quality since the first pre-season outing at Wigan Athletic (when he extinguished Will Grigg’s fire) while comfortably settling into his new surroundings. He’s even formed a burgeoning bromance with Zlatan, judging by the number of times they’ve been pictured laughing together in training. More importantly, however, Jose Mourinho is impressed: “When you buy someone like him there is always a question mark on the way he adapts,” the manager said. “Playing in Spain is very different to playing in England, playing to finish fourth or fifth is different to trying to win, but he is showing a big personality and it’s incredible.”

PLAYS THROUGH INJURY

Bailly has twice been voted United’s Man of the Match following the wins over Leicester and Bournemouth, yet he almost didn’t feature at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday. Mourinho revealed afterwards that his Africa Cup of Nations winner had only trained once ahead of kick-off. “He was injured against Leicester but never said anything and played 90 minutes,” the boss told reporters. “The next day he couldn’t train and he trained on Saturday with the team for the first time. He didn’t train all week because of the problem… but the reality is he’s strong and showing great qualities.”

HE’S CALLED ERIC!

Okay, this is a tenuous link to Mr Cantona, but any player called Eric with oodles of confidence and a big personality is bound to enjoy the support of the fans.

STILL A ROUGH DIAMOND

Getting back to the serious stuff, the most exciting thing about Bailly is arguably his age. At 22 he has his best years ahead - perhaps as many as 10 or more at United - and Mourinho is exactly the type of manager who can develop his raw, unlimited potential. Look what he did for Ricardo Carvalho at Porto, John Terry at Chelsea and Raphael Varane at Real Madrid. Our rough diamond could become a similarly dominant force in the Premier League, and he’s certainly made a bright start to his Reds career.

We've been linked with Fonte and if he comes in, I can see either Rojo/Jones or even both going and i think that's fair enough.

Unfortunately that might cause some unhappiness for either Ruddie or Elampiro or both. grin

Rooney being blasted for being overweight and is in the team because of marketing reasons by our ex player, Paul Parker.

“This is a defining season for Wayne Rooney. It’s no longer about him breaking records but finishing his career at Manchester United,” said Parker, speaking to exclusively to 888Sport .
“He needs to show his worth and that he deserves to be in the team and not just because of marketing. As much as people appreciate what he’s done over the years and how many goals he’s scored football is about now and being judged on now.
“If someone had only heard of Wayne Rooney but seen him now they’d think ‘Who is this fella? He’s over-weight and slow. That shot was terrible and it looks like he can’t move or shift his body quick enough.’
“That’s the problem with football today – you’re getting judged by people who have only heard about you and not seen you in previous seasons.”

Abeg. Forget all dis tins. No be so Darmian start?? Until he faced Sanchez....

He's good no doubt. And i'm happy he's clearing my doubts about him. But he's hasn't faced any major threats yet. Lets wait till he faces the likes of Hazard, Sanchez and Aguero b4 we start hyping him
