Position: Band F - Trade Development Manager

General

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the Government organisation that helps UK based companies succeed in international markets

Nigeria is a priority market for UKTI. We are developing a new strategy and need a senior team member to join us in developing a portfolio of industry sectors and company caseloads.

Some international travel for training and business purposes will be necessary as will travel within Nigeria.

Purpose of Job

To identify and publish Business Opportunities for British companies to act upon and develop their trade and investment activities in Nigeria.

To produce revenue from UKTI chargeable services by researching and writing market reports commissioned by British companies.

To manage a portfolio of industry sectors and caseload of companies and contacts in Nigeria.

To work towards the delivery of local and international objectives on behalf of UKTI.

Networking, contact-building and door-opening for UK business up to and including the highest levels of business and Government.

Qualities needed

A track record of delivery, to target, in the private sector or within an organisation providing similar services.

A self-starter who works well without supervision and can be part of a winning team focussed on delivering a portfolio of opportunity and revenue targets. Previous experience in change management would be helpful.

Educated to first-degree level, you will have established a network of industry contacts.

Experience within the telecommunications sector would be useful, but is not a pre-requisite of the job.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director, Trade & Investment, Nigeria.


This is a fixed term 12month renewable contract from start date. Working hours 0730 – 1530 Monday to Thursday and 0730 -1230 on Friday. The job will be graded Band F with a starting monthly salary of N237,390 including allowances (except medical allowance). Non residents will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary.

Interviews will take place in Lagos on Thursday 19 April and will be based on competencies required for the job.
