i just read a thread where people were asked what they'd be sacrifising for and most kept saying alcohol.
So, is alcohol consumption a sin? I'm refering to all forms of alcohol: beer, red wine, spirits, alomo, palm wine and all drinks any percentage of ethanol.
Pls, give reasons for ur opinion, bible verses if necesary.

Not at all.
Jesus not only drank alcohol, but when the alcohol was finished he appealed to a miracle for any.
Peter refers to Jesus as a man and drink a lot ,
Catholic priests drink wine in their ceremonies, many monks prepare various types of alcoholic beverages ,
The simple act of drinking alcohol is not sin , possibly drunk otherwise.
Dear friend:
The biblical God allowed polygamy deception in marriage (Abraham), drink, ordered the killing of all people of a town ,
And can anyone think that a god so drink a glass of wine can be a sin?

Alcohol:

Proverbs 23:31-32
Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly!32 In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

Luke 1:15
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit [a]while yet in his mother’s womb.

Leviticus 10:8-10
Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you go into the tent of meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, so that you can distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean, 11 and so you can teach the Israelites all the decrees the LORD has given them through Moses.”

Judges 13:4
Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Deuteronomy 29:6
You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the LORD your God.”

Isaiah 5:11
Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.

Isaiah 5:22
Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,

Romans 14:21
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

@Lagoshia, i find ur post very educating. I picked interest in ur last bible reference, romans, where paul instructed christians to avoid that which will make a weak observer to stumble in faith, note that paul didnt ascribe the act itselve as sin.
i also believe that the case of john the baptist u mentioned in luke was as a result of him bein a nazarene, specially ordained by God from birth for a specific task, so was samson.
Aaron was a levite, and the law u mentioned in leviticus was for levites.
The rest is plain advice.
I did enjoy ur post, i'm stil making some bible references

Intake of alcohol is not a sin, getting drunk is. No where in scripture are we told that taking alcohol is a sin. What scripture is against is drunkeness.

Personally, I don't drink alcohol but I don't think it's right to lay it down as a rule for everyone. However, we are different, so we should be careful. If you observe that you have the tendency to over-drink, then it may be best to give up alcohol totally or get help from health specialists who can help you keep it in moderation.

Specific verses, Please?

“Let us walk with decency, as in the daylight: not in carousing and drunkenness…” (Romans 13:13).

“And don’t get drunk with wine, which [leads to] reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

So where does it say we shouldn't drink at all? Those scriptures are talking about drunkeness.

Btw, why did Paul encourage Timothy to drink a little wine because of his illnesses?

1 Timothy 5:23 - Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

Its true but can you tell me a human will always take little that is recommended and not give himself to drunkenness?

Deuteronomy 7:13
He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land—your grain, new wine and olive oil—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.
Deuteronomy 7:12-14 (in Context) Deuteronomy 7 (Whole Chapter)

Deuteronomy 14:26
Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice.

2 Samuel 16:2
The king asked Ziba, “Why have you brought these?” Ziba answered, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and fruit are for the men to eat, and the wine is to refresh those who become exhausted in the wilderness.”

2 Chronicles 11:11
He strengthened their defenses and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, olive oil and wine.

Proverbs 23:20

That's called self-control. A fruit of the Spirit. With God's help you can discipline yourself not to give in to drunkeness. Saying we shouldn't drink at all because we might give in to drunkeness is like saying we shouldn't eat because we might give in to gluttony.

Exactly!
Your answer is very clear.
I have already explained that Luke said that Jesus drank wine and ate meat.
That is conclusive. If Jesus himself drank , we can not be more royalist than the king ,
I worry that some people exposed passages without detailed knowledge of their total content, and I worry a tendency to repression in all areas of life, excessive fear of sin when it is not ,
Do as Jesus, my friend , drink, eat and be happy.
My compliments!
