•Ogun Lawmakers, Caretaker Committee chairman to the rescue

INCESSANT crisis between villagers and herdsmen in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State may soon be over.

This followed the intervention of the State House of Assembly as part of steps to, nip in the bud, the annual clashes between residents and Hausa/Fulani herdsmen in the area, once and for all.

A delegation of the lawmakers paid an “emergency visit” to the area, following reports that schools in the area “have been deserted by students and teachers for fear of being attacked by the Fulanis.”

During the visit, the lawmaker representing the area, Hon Job Akintan and Caretaker Committee Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, Mr. Kunle Elegbede,  appealed to the people of Ibeku, Asa, Agbon and other committees affected “not to take laws into their hands.”

He commiserated with the people of the community on the loss of their loved ones and some other properties during the attack.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon Suraju Adekunbi assured them that the state Government was working on how to improve security in the area, so that, “the student can  go back to their classes.”

Narrating their ordeal, a retired principal, Prince Adeyemi Alase and Bale of Ibeku, Chief Olaleye Adigun, said a Geography teacher. Mr. Yomi Akinola and two students of the Community High School, Ibeku, were among those killed in the last three weeks, alleging that “women were raped and killed on their way to the farm.”

In his own contribution, Adigun said the Hausa/Fulani cattle men became destructive and aggressive when they saw that there were no crops on the farms for their cows to feed on.

He lamented that “they would go into people’s farms, tear down their barns and bring out the stored crops for their cows to feed on.

“if any farmer whose crop was being stolen happens to come around, at that time, they would gun him down.”
Speaking earlier, Elegbede had charged the villagers, “to be law abiding and refrain from anything that could tarnish the image of Ogun State and Nigeria, at large.”

He assured that the administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, “will  do everything possible to prevent future occurrence.”[/size]

Now this is too much of a coincidence.   Three attacks in as many days by men posing as cattle herders, AND in the same general area within Nigeria, could not possibly have come about by pure statistical chance.

While the destruction of farmland in southern Nigeria by nomadic herdsmen has reccurred over the past five years with increasing frequency, it is HIGHLY unusual for cattle to be herded onto a major highway specifically to stop vehicles for a robbery attack.

The other very odd aspect of the 4-hour blockade of February 27th 2012 along the Lagos to Ibadan Expressway, Nigeria's primary economic artery, is that the dagger-wielding "cattle herders" launched REPEATED military-style attacks on motorists trapped on that dual-carriageway, tactically retreating as police engaged them with rifle fire, only to pop up within the hour at the same spot or nearby.

That calm, calculating fearlessness under fire suggests that the individuals who took over that highway may well have been hardened battle veterans from Chad, Niger or even Somalia, who operate at the pointed end of separatist terrorist group Boko Haram's incremental infiltration into southern Nigeria, and who are charged with sowing the first seeds of fear in the minds of all who their shadowy paymasters ultimately hope to subjugate by force of arms.

There is something decidedly ominous about both the chronology and the choreography evident in the attacks attributed to "Fulani" cattle men over the past 48 hours in southwest Nigeria.   Something is definitely afoot, and it merits the undivided attention of both Nigerian authorities and Uncle Sam, who cares very much indeed about what happens in Nigeria, the worlds fifth-largest oil producer.

The media might brand their actions as robbery BUT i am pretty sure there might be some kind of sinister agenda behind this so called "herdsmen" robbery . It might just be boko haram moving down south .

I agree with you ibo guys and I said it when a fulani man chopped off a man's hand in Ekiti that a reprisal was needed. They could not find the fulani that commited the crime. . . but im sure there were other fulanis in that town. . . find two of them and deal with them. One for the crime, the other just for wasting your time on bloodhsed when you could be at an owanbe. I lived among fulanis and hausas and I know them in and out. . . . the hype about their fierceness is a myth, they are just as vulnerable as any other tribe.

On this issue, I am even more distraught that educated people are coming out to beg for peace. That truly shocks me! This is happening on their own land, they need to turn a blind eye and let the locals take matter into their own hands. Then after a number of fulanis are skinned. . . thats when you come out and plead for peace, but not before. . . . . but what can i say, education has robbed some people of their sense of political balance.

Why is everybody complaining
The Fulanis own the whole Nigeria. Nigeria is their conquered terroritory, their God given grazing land, and their inheritance from Othman dan Fodio.
One Fulani cow(may piece be upon Him It), is more than several useless ogun state men put together. So why complain

Did you not see it in the Nigeria constitution where it expressly stated that the Fulani herd is superior to the savage, unbelieving, and noisy southerner farmer and his lowly grassland

It is a fact that when these cows(may piece be upon Them) are passing through, the whole traffic, I mean everybody stops at a standstill. I mean southern school children, traffic, emergency workers, ambulances, and yes even the highly placed goverment officials.
Why should the Ogun state governor block traffic for a Fulani herd leisurely making it's way through the state capital
Because the stu.pid governor doesn't understand that the cows are better and more important than he is in Nigeria's scheme of things.
Just imagine that cool

Thank you for pointing out that glaring oversight, Demdem.   You are absolutely right that Ayatollah Buhari Bin Laden is a likely sponsor for the Boko Haram terrrorist faction now probing south-western Nigeria, given all those pre-election threats of violence issued by that career loser, and the manner in which that semi-literate fundamentalist phuck crows with delight after each new terror attack against innocent civilians.

Oh well, hopefully a Predator drone will do the honors and rid the world of that critter before he can wreak much more havoc.
