Why Does Nigerian Univerties Reject O'level That Are More Than 4 Years Behind?

Why are Nigerian Universities throwing students into a state of confusion and frustration by rejecting O'level that are more than 4yrs old. I have also fallen a victim, I lost an admission that has been offered already in FUTMinna because I had my O'level in 2005 and therefore makes more than 4yrs older. The worst part of it is that, this information is not always announced to the public or stated in d brochure. Please, Is there any University that does not reject? Please I need to know so that I can know my next line of action. Your contributions matter a lot.

FUTMinna actually accepted results from 2007 till date. So urs is still valid,

Try Uniben.I was offered admission 6 years after I got my O'Levels.Besides,I never received that complaint through-out my studies there.

If this is true, then its rubbish. So O' level result now expires in Nigeria. Everything is just funny in this country!!!

I don't think this information is correct. No University or institution can reject any certificate or result on account of old age. In as much as the candidate satisfies the minimum admission requirement, he would be considered for admission.

I never knew O'level results expire! That means BSC will start expiring very soon!

This must be a new law! But these people are wicked O. They forced students to unfortunately stay at home. After the students worked hard to reach their minimum entry requirements, they rejected the students as a punishment for staying at home for too long.

This is sardonic, it is lugubrious, and it is a case of dismal pismal (ref hon. Obahiagbon). This rule should be completely annihilated!

Rubbish, even America's top schools accept 5 years old test scores.

"O" Level result valid only for 5 (five) years. I guess why is like that is that student must have forgotten most things he/she learn 5yr ago and need to re-write the exam.

One thing you must know is that educational institution is a business entity.they are there to make profit and not loss.  

I don't believe this at all.What use to be obtainable is having your o' level certificate if you have finished school for more than four years instead of bringing testimonial issued from your secondary school.

I think Jamb scores expire after a certain number of years, but O levels should be fine. I wrote JAMB in 2001 and i think i remember seeing something like that. The same goes for GRE in the states, it expires after a certain number of years. But JAMB,SAT and GRE are considered standardized test and are quite different from qualifying exams. Make sure you clarify your information though, because O levels exam should not expire.

Why wasting ur time going to universities if after u graduate u wil nt get a better job,instead of wasting that 4 or 5years of ur life u shd either go and learn a trade(like ibos boys do) or learn a work(we yorubas)

I completely agree ^^^ . My friend has been schooling abroad for 8 years. There are so many businesses she could have had by now with all that money. Only consolation is that, by the grace of God, when she's done with this final stage, she is very likely to get an awesome well paid job. Higher education is overrated. Most employers are more interested in your work experience than your degree. (Not sure about Nigeria though, where dem too like book)

, the info is wrong, we have a secondary school, students who left in 2000 to learn trades or went on to do other things still come in for certificates to be used for processing the most current admissions.our friend was probably refused admission for other unknown reason

I just wish someone can prove the authenticity of this, then I'll give up on this experimental project called Nigeria.

I've always been a pro-Nigerian, but this statement of 'expired', O-level result turns my belle. Someone took WAEC in 2000, and he has been offered
admission this yr by a North-American University. Is FUTMINNA of a higher standard than this university?

Most (not all)universities tell u: U CAN NOT COMBINE two(2) results dat R older than a specific years apart(mayB 4yrs). Others tell U, u CANT COMBINE diff exams, eg WAEC n NECO. Am saying this frm a point of being a "quasi" authority by virtue of my job. U can confirm ds frm any Adm. Officer and above in ANY Federal university

Sorry to break the news but yes they expire not that they are no longer valid but for admissions they do expire. It used to be 6 years before I did not know they brought it down to 4, kinda sad but dude you passed waec 7 years ago!

Oh, u hvn‘t been seeing them on adverts? Of course they abound! “Applicants must not hv graduated earlier than 3 years ago“. I‘ve seen them severally. I think(not very certain) Oando do give such conditions too.

thats plain ignorance. my alma mater futminna doesn't accept results older than five years.
