Java has three editions vis-a-vis Java Standard Edition(Java SE),Java Micro Edition (Java ME) and Java Enterprise Edition(Java EE).Now the standard edition is meant for anyone who wishes to learn the Java programming language to actually become a Java programmer. When you are done learning Java SE,you can decide to move to into the various niches created by Java for environments such as creating applications for small devices which is where Java ME comes in and this is utlimately where your Mobile Application development fits in.You can take it from here on google.Billions of mobile devices run on Java.Successful mobile apps have also been done in Java.I hear that 2go is done in Java.
