The controversy started when the place was referred to Maitama extension. But before then there had always being a maitama extension which is located by the minister's hill in maitama. The new maitama extension which is now part of the Jonathan Godluck district is the former area known as Mpape. However it is not the whole of mpape that is referred to as maitama extension but the part of mpape after the police barrack on you way to the hill before the filling station by the right where you have a telecom mast. This road also leads to Katampe 1 & 2. Now the Jnathan Goodluck District is that area plus an area simply known as Guruku.
