Fellow Landers,

I think it's high time NSE should put in place an effective body or special agency to monitor the activities of registered stockbroking firm in the country. The activities of some of them are unprofessional and nothing to write home about.

Let's take the issue of changing broker. Generally in life, if you are involved in anything and you desire a positive result and the result is not forth coming, you have all the rights in the world to re-assess your performance and change certain things or go for a total change but that is not the situation of things in Nigeria when it comes to changing brokers, those that are not performing does not want their unsatisfied clients to move on with the lives by switching to another broker.

They will frustrate all your efforts and that of the new broker by not signing the transfer form. To me, this is unfair and uncalled for. Investors have their lives to live and brokers have theirs to live too and moreover, the money in question(shares) belongs to the investor. I strongly believe we urgently need a special agency to monitor their activities closely.

Please contribute if you have any suggestion.

Peace.

Let the brokers and your account officer know that you will write a letter reporting them to the SEC and im sure they will double their efforts to transfer your account.

if you have the time, just walk to their office and get them to sign it. then you give d signed doc to ur new broker who will take it to CSCS for action

if you send your new broker with the document and ask him to follow up with the old broker, they will just collect the doc, acknowledge collection and leave d doc in a file because the new broker cannot demand immediate attention but as a client, if you dedicate a day to go to the broker and ask that they sign, they have to do it

if they still refuse to respect the client relationship you have had with them, then you need to report them to SEC & NSE

all da best
