Isn't This Absurd? Lagos-badagry Festival? by semasir: 12:22am On Apr 11, 2012
Culture is a part of one's life that can never be taken away fully even if modernised or changed. The recent act by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and all concerned on the recent festival tagged "Lagos-Badagry Festival" is just absurd and should not be heard of.
=>Has the Eyo Festival dominant in Lagos Island ever been tagged or moved otherwise probably to Ikorodu or Epe let alone Badagry?
=>Will the people concerned ever be happy seeing their pride taken from them and showcased elsewhere?
It is high time concerned persons like myself from Badagry stand up and tell whoever cares to listen that we own this festival and it had never been THE LAGOS-BADAGRY FESTIVAL rather it is THE BADAGRY FESTIVAL AND NOTHING MORE THAN THIS!!!!
Those who think their culture can be sold so cheaply for monetary gains will soon see themselves put to shame.
Proudly an Ogu! Proudly Badagry!! Gbagi ma na gble!!!
