Okay. I want to start a thread on airplanes. Can those who fly identify the airplanes in which they fly, or do you guys know the manufacturers at all? Or In which plane have flown? Ever flown in a DHC? or a Learjet?
Well, let's see. Contributors are welcome!

British Airways' Boeing 747
You identify it with its hump-like upper deck. Unmistakable!. It's a wide-body Aircraft.
If you fly exclusively in Nigeria, you'd hardly see this "Queen of the Skies"

Boeing's 737. The most popular around. You'd find this among Aero's fleet. If you fly a lot in Nigeria, chances are you have flown the 737 4 out of 5 times.
Identify it with its narrow body length, somehow pointed nose and twin engine.

Fokker 100.
IRS Airlines has several Fokker 100 in its fleet. Unlike Boeing engines which are on the wings, Fokker engines are mostly located at the tail section.
Very common plane.

The manufacturer, though, Fokker is bankrupt sad

The Boeing 767 is a huge, wide-body twin-engine aircraft. And very expensive too. I doubt if any Nigerian carrier has this in its fleet. Carries up to 350 persons.
If you saw a plane with a wide-body, twin engines carried on the wings, almost round nose and looking Boeing-like wink, then it's a 767! The earlier Boeings have a rather pointed nose

Later versions of Boeing 737 with extended winglets. The earlier versions never had such wing design.
This is a Boeing 737-800, apparently in Arik's fleet. Has definitely logged many miles! wink

I think the Boeing 747 is the only four-engine Boeing design!

The Learjet 60. Business jet. mid-range airplane. Can cost about $12m. So, if you are an aspiring bitc.h-slapping Oyedepo. . . grin

Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Not in wide circulation. Arik seems to have placed orders for this. am pretty sure for their international routes.
Identifiable by its smoother and almost downwards pointing nose.

Gulfstream G550. just about $42m. Mostly used for charter services. If you were some rich bloke though, it might be ur private shuttle

Airbus 319. Rather small aircraft for passenger services. In the A320 family. Basically a narrow-body, twin-engine airplane for medium-range flights, perhaps domestic flights

Re: The Glory Of Airplanes And The Differences Between Them! by Nobody: 2:05pm On Apr 18, 2012
Airbus A340. Long-range aircraft. Wide-body, four engine plane. This is what Arik uses for its long-range international flights, if you have flown with them before. Lagos-London, anyone? wink
How to identify: its wings tend backwards, somehow sha. Four big engines. Winglets on the wings

Re: The Glory Of Airplanes And The Differences Between Them! by Nobody: 2:19pm On Apr 18, 2012
Airbus A380. Huge monster. Wide-body, four-engine airliner.
How to identify: double decker. Four engines. Horizontal Stabilizer (tailplane) is almost same direction as wings, low swept

If you fly often, you'd probably be unable to tell the difference between an Airbus and a Boeing, especially the very similar series like 737 and A310-A320, until you get in and grab the pamphlet describing safety maneuvers.

prominent distinguishing features are the nose and cockpit windows. Boeing has a pointed nose, while Airbus has a round, bulbous nose. Boeing's cockpit windows run V-shaped, while Airbus's run straight.
