Alright I'll tell you what I think. I think statistics don't usually show one the picture he wants to see, in other words, they often lie.

If awards were to be given out solely based on numbers, that then would be a poor judgement of all that happens on the field of play. How possible?

Numbers wont tell you that Hazard created the most chances from open play in the league (98) last season, numbers wont tell you that those chances created by Hazard were fluffed by his teammates neither would numbers tell you that if those chances were converted, Hazard would have easily finished the season as the highest assist holder.

Numbers would tell you that Cesc had the league's most assists but it wouldn't tell you that most of those assists were from set-plays neither would numbers tell you that despite Cesc being the league top creator, he was piss-poor from January. Numbers would tell you that Di Maria, Carzola, Fabregas, Sigurdsson and Brunt had more assists than Hazard last season but it wouldn't tell you that same players all had fickle forms through out the season.

Coogar numbers usually lie and this is against the popular notion that they don't. Hazard was terrific last season for all and sundry to see, he clearly do not need numbers who's a pathological liar to back him up.
