DFB Pokal Final: Borussia Dortmund Vs Bayern Munich (5 - 2) On 12th May 2012 by upnaijaDRN: 5:13pm On May 12, 2012
The DFB (German Football Association) Cup is the second most prestigious German football competition after the national league. Bayern Munich has won the most DFB Cups: 15 times. Dortmund on the other hand, has just won two.

Dortmund will be looking for the ‘treble’, having already won the league title and having qualified for the Champions League final. This can also be Bayern’s practice game for the big final on 19th of May.

Borussia Dortmund will be missing their defender, Patrick Owomoyela due to injury. This is the only exclusion for them. Otherwise they will play their squad to full strength.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, has good news in the form of Daniel Van Buyten training with the team after recovering from an injury suffered in January. His role for this game is unclear. But he is suspected to play. However, Bayern’s defender, Breno is out due to injury. He is unlikely to play this game.

cheksli get hope grin grin

that 5th goal was just crazy

Well, what a game that was. I thought it would be a tight, tense affair that could go to extra time and penalties, but BVB have cruised to victory. A fantastic performance from them, and a fantastic evening for the club. The players celebrate with their fans as the disconsolate Bayern players trudge away. They'll need to dust themselves off and put in a far better account of themselves next week when they face Chelsea...

90′ +1
And we're done! Borussia Dortmund complete a domestic double in the grand manner. Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick and Mats Hummels and Shinji Kagawa also get on the score sheet as BVB stormed to a 5-2 victory over Bayern, who were outclassed.

89′
I think we're almost done here. The Dortmund subs and staff are already celebrating on the sidelines, and neither side is really going for it any more.

88′
Yellow Card Mario Gomez

86′
It's all getting a bit feisty as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mats Hummels square up to one another in the centre of the park and exchange some nasty words. Let's hope they make up in time for Euro 2012 for Germany's sake.

84′
Substitution Jakub Blaszczykowski Ivan Perisic
Desperately close to a Bayern penalty as Hummels picks up a booking for a tackle just outside the box. Meanwhile, Perisic has come on for Kuba, who has put in a great shift today.

83′
Yellow Card Mats Hummels

82′
GOAL!!! 5-2!!! That should just about kill off any chance of a Bayern comeback. Neuer drops an absolute clanger as he claims a Gundogan through ball, only to drop it at Piszczek's feet. The Polish right back chips it across the face of goal, and Robert Lewandowski claims his hat-trick!

81′
Goal Robert Lewandowski

81′
Substitution Shinji Kagawa Sven Bender

81′
Jurgen Klopp is looking to close this one out, and has taken off Kagawa in favour of Sven Bender. Could that be the last we see of Kagawa in a Dortmund shirt?

80′
Whether or not Bayern can manage two more goals or not remains to be seen but they're trying. Gomez nods Robben's cross just wide of the post.

79′
If it's of any worth, when they played Stuttgart about a month ago, Dortmund did concede three goals in nine minutes. Can Bayern do the same as their southern rivals?

78′
Ribery tries to notch another with a right-footed shot from a similar position to his goal, but it's far too close to Langerak, who claims it easily. He'll have to do better than that.

76′
Goal Franck Ribéry
GOAL!!!! Franck Ribery works himself into a bit of space on the edge of the box, before unleashing a fierce left-footed effort which flies past Langerak and into the bottom corner. Still a huge task for Bayern, though.

74′
Bayern put in some good work down the right, with Muller twice attempting to get the ball into the box, but BVB neutralise the threat with ease.

72′
Lahm has a dig from the edge of the box, but it goes high and wide. Uli Hoeness looks downcast in the stands.

71′
Incidentally, Bayern haven't conceded four goals in one match since they played Barcelona three years ago. Dortmund are in pretty good company there.

70′
Yellow Card Bastian Schweinsteiger

69′
Substitution David Alaba Diego Contento

69′
It's really not Bayern's day. Ribery charges clear and sends a beautiful cross in. Gomez gets to the ball, and thinks he's scored, only to see his header crash against the bar. Lovely passage of play, and Bayern are desperately unlucky.

68′
As BVB fans chant "Ole", Kagawa and Lewandowski combine brilliantly in the box. The Pole shoots, but Neuer makes the save and denies him his hat-trick.

67′
Gundogan swings in a corner which almost falls to Hummels, but the former Bayern defender can't quite get it under control, and the opportunity slips away.

65′
A little passage of play that just about sums up Bayern today. Robben gets the ball, comes inside and passes to Ribery, who needlessly gifts possession back to BVB. They've really been poor this season.

61′
I think that one has really stung Bayern, who have looked limp in the last few minutes. They've really been the makers of their own downfall tonight - every goal they've conceded has been entirely avoidable.

58′
Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOAL! This is getting embarrassing for Bayern. Kagawa charges forward on the break, and feeds Grosskreutz, who knocks it on to Lewandowski. The Pole keeps his cool and notches his second of the game by stroking the ball past Neuer. Bayern need a miracle now.

56′
This match is so evenly poised. at the moment. Either side look capable of scoring.

53′
Lahm gets clear down the right and plays a lovely ball across the face of goal, but there wasn't a red shirt to tap the ball home. Any contact and Langerak would have been in serious trouble.

52′
SO CLOSE!! Gundogan takes the resulting free kick, and sends a beautiful curing shot just wide of the post. Lovely play from the Germany midfielder.

51′
Yellow Card Holger Badstuber
And at the other end, Badstuber picks up a booking for inadvertently kicking Kuba in the head. It was accidental, but a dangerous challenge nonetheless.

50′
Oh my. Langerak goes charging out of his box to stop Gomez from getting to a through ball, but only heads it straight to Robben. Rather than shooting, the Dutchman tries to play in Gomez, but Subotic gets across and makes a fine tackle.

49′
Gundogan swings the corner in, but Bayern get it clear.

48′
GOAL!! Dortmund are 4-1 up! Is this really happening?!? Bayern pour men forward, but Kagawa wins possession and charges up-field. He feeds Grosskreutz, who passes it on to Lewandowski, who finishes coolly to make it 4-1. Bayern need a miracle now...

48′
Horrible moment for Bayern as Kagawa looked to be clear, however, he can only win a corner after some smart defending.

47′
It's been all Dortmund since the start of the second half, however, the Bayern defence is standing firm. If they concede again, that will really be the end of their bid to win here.

46′
Substitution Luiz Gustavo Dias Thomas Müller
Anyway, we're back. Can Bayern snatch a victory here? They've thrown Thomas Muller into the fray for the disappointing Luiz Gustavo...

For anyone wondering, Roman Weidenfeller has been taken to hospital after having trouble breathing. It's suspected that he has some broken ribs.

We've had plenty of feedback via Twitter. Rishad Chatterjee has saluted Shinji Kagawa for his professionalism. I agree - it's fantastic of him to put in such a great performance in light of the speculation surrounding his future, but is he right to be angling for a move away from BVB? Meanwhile Bolarinwa Komolafe says that Chelsea should follow Dortmund's example a week from now when they face Bayern in the Champions League final, but can the Blues' aging stars match BVB's intensity? If you've got anything to add, don't hesitate to get in touch. You can always contact me on Twitter (@eniskoylu).

So, it's half time, and at the moment, BVB look good value to complete a domestic double. Can Bayern claw their way back into this match?

45′ +5
And that's half-time. Goals from Shinji Kagawa, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski have really sent Dortmund into a commanding lead, despite Arjen Robben's strike. Bayern really need to test Mitchell Langerak more - they've done precious little in the final third, despite having more possession than their team-mates.

45′ +4
Bayern pour men forward in an effort to get back into this match, but they're well-shepherded by the BVB defence. They've really got a tough task now.

45′ +1
Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOAL!!!!! It's 3-1 to Dortmund! Lewandowski heads a long ball to Kagawa, gets it back off his Japanese team-mate, and nutmegs Neuer to send his side into a commanding lead. The scoreline is a bit flattering to BVB, but they won't mind!

45′
We're going to have a whopping five minutes of added time at the end of this high-tempo first half. Understandable, given the injury to Weidenfeller.

43′
It's getting a little heated now. The boos reign down as Badstuber is fouled in the centre of the park.

41′
Penalty Goal Mats Hummels
GOAL!!! Mats Hummels just about squeezes it past Manuel Neuer, and it's 2-1 to Dortmund. A final goal against his old club for Hummels!

40′
PENALTY TO DORTMUND!!! A Schmelzer strike falls kindly to Grosskreutz, who is scythed down by Boateng as he looks to turn in the box.

38′
First bit of action for Langerak, and he does that Weidenfeller failed to do: beating Mario Gomez to a through ball.

37′
The game has settled into a bit of a rhythm now. With both of these sides equally capable of beating one another, this could be a cracker.

34′
Substitution Roman Weidenfeller Mitchell Langerak
And there's the substitution. Langerak comes on to make a rare appearance. Weidenfeller is visibly disappointed to have been taken off, but seems to have an injury.

32′
SO CLOSE!! Ribery fools Piszczek down the right and pulls the ball across the face of goal to Lahm of all people, but Hummels is there to block the ball on the line. Great defending.

30′
Dortmund seem to be preparing a substitution. Langerak is coming on for Weidenfeller, who has had a little bit of a nightmare, in between getting clobbered by Gomez and giving away a penalty.

29′
What a calamity. Subotic tries to clear the ball, but plays it against Robben, who inadvertently sets up Gomez. However, the 26-year-old's strike is pretty wild and it flies out of play.

28′
Kehl floats a lovely ball towards the far post and finds Grosskreutz. He knocks it back across the face of goal, but Neuer charges out and claims it confidently.

27′
They work the free kick short to Kuba, who crosses towards Hummels, but Bayern get it away. Good defending from Bayern.

26′
Alaba gives a free kick away on the edge of his own area by handling Lewandowski's cross. Big chance for BVB to get back in front...

25′
Penalty Goal Arjen Robben
Arjen Robben steps up..... And scores! That makes up for his penalty miss against Dortmund in the league a month ago!

24′
Yellow Card Roman Weidenfeller
Penalty to Bayern. Kroos plays a lovely ball to Gomez, who takes it around Weidenfeller, and is then taken down by the Dortmund keeper, who picks up a booking.

20′
Interestingly, Sir Alex Ferguson is in the stadium today. Could he be having a closer look at Shinji Kagawa?

18′
Robben finds himself free down the left and pulls the ball across the face of goal, but nobody's there to tap the ball home. They work the ball back into a threatening area, but David Alaba's shot is charged down. He was never going to be a likely scorer, was he?

16′
Dortmund string a few passes together, but then carelessly gift possession back to Bayern when Gundogan sends a sloppy pass into touch.

15′
Bayern go long in an attempt to get back into the match, but Subotic anticipates the ball well and nips in ahead of Gomez.

14′
Dortmund are pretty much just chasing shadows right now. It's all Bayern, but can they score?

12′
The resulting corner is finally taken, but it's cleared away easily. Bayern have responded to falling behind well, but it's still 1-0 to Dortmund.

10′
Incidentally, that was the fastest DFB Pokal final goal since 2003, since Michael Ballack gave Bayern an early lead against Kaiserslautern.

8′
WHAT A CHANCE!! Robben strides forward and slips in a delicious pass to Gomez. However, Weidenfeller is quick off his line to block the Bayern striker's shot, taking a blow in the process. We're having a momentary break while he's treated.

7′
Bayern fans are furious as Grosskreutz dispossesses Lahm, only to see the referee give a goal kick, rather than a corner.

6′
Bayern try to get back on level terms immediately, and Robben wins a free kick in a threatening area. However, his delivery is easily claimed by Weidenfeller.

5′
Great start for Dortmund, and Kagawa, who may well be playing his last game for the club, and an absolute catastrophe for the Bavarians. Can they fight back?

3′
Goal Shinji Kagawa
GOAL!!!! BORUSSIA DORTMUND TAKE THE LEAD!! Luiz Gustavo is guilty of a tame back pass, and Kuba nips in, and feeds Kagawa, who taps the ball into the net. Great start for the champions!

2′
First real threat of the match. Bayern move forward down the right, and feed Lahm, who gets the ball across the face of goal, but Robben and Gomez get in each other's way, and the opportunity is lost.

1′
And we're off! Bayern immediately tear forward, but Dortmund recover possession.

The teams are out, and we're just seconds away from kick off. Once the national anthem has ended, we'll be underway...

So, we're just ten minutes away from the start of this match? What will happen? Can Dortmund complete a domestic double? Can Bayern take a massive step towards a double of their own and warm up for the Champions League final int he grand manner? You can tweet your predictions/thoughts to me (@eniskoylu). And stay tuned for all the action...

Meanwhile, Bayern have picked Toni Kroos ahead of Thomas Muller, and will line up with: Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Badstuber, Alaba; Schweinsteiger, Gustavo; Robben, Kroos, Ribery; Gomez

Borussia Dortmund have left Mario Gotze on the bench and lineup with: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Gundogan, Kehl; Kuba, Kagawa, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski

So, we're just 20 minutes away from kick-off. Time for some team news...

These two sides have had a real tussle this season. It looked as though Bayern were going to run away with the Bundesliga title at the beginning of the season, but BVB put an incredible run of form together to retain their title, doing the double over Bayern in the progress.

Good evening! DFB Pokal final is here, and we'll be bringing you every minute of it! Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich - it promises to be a fantastic match.

i think it was a typo, that should be dortmund, i think the writer meant a treble in commas as if to say they won the league, qualified for the UCl and winning the DFB pokal will make it a 'treble'

The op's post has been corrected.

Bayern has turned to Dortmund's b itch. The rate at which the keep beating them these days is something else. I noticed Goetze was not even on the pitch and yet they won by this margin. I wish this Dortmund team can be kept together for long, they are destined for something big. Shinji dont go pls!
Any Chelsea fan tryin to find comfort in this match better forget it. This dortmund team has been drilled to perfection. Very few team can do this to Bayern and i dont think Chelsea is one of them.
