[b][/b]Recently, the Jama'at Ta'awunil Muslimeen (TA'AWUN) in Iwo, Osun State hit the generality of Nigerians like a punch in the face when a damning security report on its activities was published oy a national newspaper. Immediately, the Islamic group was transported from its seeming obscurity to national prominence. Today, in the eyes of many, TA'AWUN, among other things, has been clandestinely Islamizing Osun State. It has also taken over the security of Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola. But is this all that TA AwUNtruly represents? So, out of curiosity, MIKA1LMUMUNI and BABATUNDE SULAIMAN journeyed to Iwo recently to meet minds with Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the leader and founder of the group. Undoubtedly, it was really an interesting encounter as the Islamic scholar offered answers to a number of questions on his group, his relationship with the governor, aspirations, fight for the cause of the Muslim community in Iwo and what he termed " baseless rumours " about his organization.
