Chelsea Thanksgiving In Nigerian Churches by Donmeca(m): 12:19pm On May 20, 2012 |
We have seen various extortions by pastors and priests in various churches but d use of foreign football clubs to grind out more money from happy or expectant fans is so novel and creative one. Today my church was almost blue in colour and when d thanksgiving was announced, Chelsea fans that took over d whole place. They happily and freely gave thanks to God for helping a team based in far away London to win d UCL. The Men of God were grinning from molar to premolar as d donations came. I'm not even talking about reckless celebration that is still going on...leading to loss of lives Do u have a similar experience in ur own church? |

Is that a truth you are saying? Did any Church really organise a Thanksgiving activity in church before your eyes? That ll be funny if it's true. I'm in Ivory Coast (Drogba's country) and people are simply celebrating in drinking bars....up till now. |

Re: Chelsea Thanksgiving In Nigerian Churches by Donmeca(m): 8:20pm On May 20, 2012 |
Ok let me tell u how true it is. It has always happened. Fans go to churches for team prayers and thanksgiving. Some churches even go as far as staging a financial offering competition among d main club fans during major ceremonies like Easter, Christmas and harvests. Mancity did not give d churches much money cos their fanbase is low here. U will see fans sponsoring goodwill messages in harvest brochures...I mean, it has been there and is fast turning into a serious religious norm. Troubles me though 1 Like

@op i dont see anything wrong in thanking God for something that makes you happy as long as it's not a substitute for the sermon... in my opinion, if i were d pastor i'll allow it. anything that makes my members happy is what i pray for as long as its not a sin or immoral. d issue of giving is personal, you have your own brain and you own a bible. know when to give and when not to, very simple... i'll give in church if my pet gets healed, not because of the love i have for my pet but because if it died. it'll take me a few minutes to mourn it. 9 Likes |

@op-the thanksgiving is personal and voluntary, please do not make it look as if the churches made it a rule.people are happy and want to thank God so because you are a pastor you will stop them because it's all about a club in 'far away london'.i have a question for you. Do you think God will be happy should the pastors tell the people not to come for thanksgiving? |

The people are happy and decided to go and thank God in their church. Please, someone should tell me in specifics the offence that the priest has committed. 1 Like |

D Bible says we should rejoice with those who are rejoicing so rejoice and give thanks You are a fcking mooron! Even if Thanksgiving is normal in churches, is it not for some achievement or betterment in one's life? What has the congregation achieved? How has their life improved? Bloody foool! One of the mooorons that would scrape any stewpid excuse to continue being mooorons of religion. jim jones: So Catholic churches don join the rank of criminal churches so they can compete and survive? Maybe Ole-depo of Winners will get investment bankers to acquire the Catholic arm of Nigeria through a huge M&A deal so they can screw their customers (i.e. congregation) more at lower synegical cost and eliminate competition in the market. |

Korrection: Point out where it is in the Bible to thank God for what makes you happy....just quote a verse...mtchewwwwwwwwwwwwww Happiness is expensive in Nigerian churches, mate. They operate the business at high fixed cost since the likes of Ole-depo has to use private jets. They will charge for any marginal utility you consume, nothing is free. |
