Irunmole: Mansions built with money stolen from you and I.

I seriously don't know why some Nigerians still have this foolish way of thinking........first of all, most of these houses aren't owned by politicians!!!, people actually work in Nigeria....we have doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, CEOs, business men and women, actors, artistes and so on.....politicians are not the only wealthy people in the country. Most of these politicians actually started making money on their own before joining politics . secondly, the fact that you don't own a property like this doesn't mean money has been stolen from you; I'm very sure you didn't have a billion Nara that was forcefully taken by the government.....I believe you should work hard on your own and stop blaming the government for your misfortunes because there are people out there making cool cash in Nigeria. smiley

Ofcourse na naija. I know this building for Area 11. I go one 6 yr old boy bday for there some 3 yrs ago....Ol' boy, the party be like a wedding ceremony. Majority of us self no see the kid wey dey celebrate bday.

Well, i guess it musta been a while you visited naija. Majority of these buildings are far from cheap. Majority are multi-million dollars houses. Consider this, Land alone in Lekki is between N150m - N400m [ $1m - $2.5m] and in Asokoro where majority of the houses are situated, it's always between N300m - N1b [ $2m - $6.5 ] and that's just for the land.

In addition, i'm not sure about the procedures you have to go through when buying a land in lekki but i'm in deep know about the Asokoro's. First you need to come forward with your proposed plan prototype. And you can be sure you're not contesting with any less of 20 people over the same lot. So on the paper, the best prototype gets to buy the land (don't forget the price has not even been set yet) but in truth, na the person wey "bride" pass, go buy the house. Which means, many, many under-th-table-envelopes must still exchange hands.

So just eliminate that "someone living in one of those hows was a plumber" thought off your mind, except he or she is/was the Villa's plumber.

Well said....

Your pic is probably an old pic, cos the centre statue is missing.

MRbrownJAY: one of the main problem with Nigerian homes is that some of the building look great BUT the interior are almost always dreadful, with poor lighting and deco....... it seem to me that most have no idea what interior design mean!

How many Nigerian homes have you seen the interiors of or do you depend on what you saw in the property section?.There are lots of amazing interior decors around but i know most people wont post the pics of their interiors for security reasons...most of those houses do not cost so much cos of cheap labour as compared to a place like uk..where a labourer can earn about £60[N15,000]a day.about interiors,,,,naija ppl have very good taste.personally i know some people who imported most of their interior stuffs[plumbing, kitchen, bathroom, furniture etc}from places like Travis Perkins and B&Q here in the uk.you need to see the interior decor to believe..

You're funny. Are you comparing the prices in naira with that of uk prices? Obviously, it would seem cheaper looking from a £ point of view.
But an average Nige would see these prices as INSANE!!

No offense but you need to change your view on things like this, first of all most of these are not middle class houses and therefore would not be affordable to any and everyone and I can assure you that a majority of people can legitimately afford theses houses.....managers, CEOs, business tycoons etc

blink182: Yeah, interior deco is a big problem in the country

Interior decor needs to work hand in hand with the architect during the design of the house so as to have proper placements of items in the interior.

If you go to BANANA Estate, Island Lagos, if you dont hold your prick, you will piss for sokoto. That estate is bad for unbelievable mansions. Wahalahi, money dey for this country. You will see where a piece of land is bought for 100million, foundation alone consume 150million. Nawao. I am an Engineer, infact money spent on one building in that estate can build like 10 factories for the unemployed. Wasteed, all is vanity

This is a lie. Few people besides politicians and the very top businessmen have $1million-$2million lying around to build these types of houses. It's no coincidence that a majority of the newer houses that were posted are located in Abuja. My uncle builds premium houses like these in Abuja and I know from several personal conversations with him that a good 70%-80% of the clientele for show-piece Abuja mansions are politicians, ministers and top government workers. Successful people that made their money in the private sector through legitimate means (i.e. "doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, CEOs, business men and women, actors, artistes"wink rarely choose to invest that kind of money in a relatively illiquid asset that might sit empty for most of the year (they typically build relatively modest mansions close to where they actually work and live like Lagos/PH). The vast majority of the spanking-new Abuja mansions you see are built with stolen money (ditto for most of the structures on Banana Island).

Stop spewing lies if you don't really know what you're talking about.

Funny enough not all the houses posted on here are in ABUJA!!!, and not all lands in abuja cost a million dollars upwards.......some of these houses are in Lagos and other places too. You just seem to be talking without sense, in which country in the world does a majority of the population live in million dollar houses??, its virtually impossible!!!!....just so you knw too my uncle is an architect and designs such buildings for people and his clients range from Engineers, to Bankers, accountants and CEO....you should understand that houses like this are majorly owned by the elite of the country and not even middle class people. Just so you knw, Nigerian Politicians are actually paid salaries and they can also save to build or buy what they can afford. Frankly its up to you to believe or not but if you want to keep living in that backward way of thinking "all politicians are theieves" Just so you knw some of these politicians actually made good money on their own before joing polictics e.g Ngozi Iweala, Allison madueke, sanusi....just to mention a few..and there are also big names like Dangote (richest black man alive), Mike adenuga, Jim ovia etc. So please get a reality check

Lovely structures in a country with so much wealth and the same time so much poverty.

Not surprised though cos there are many of such expensive luxury properties springing up daily.

A flat sells for $1m - $2m in some locations.
