If your father is still alive and in his 70's would you open your eyes and see him work himself to death? By the way, if, at that age, he does not depend on you, his son, then on who else would he depend? On me?.
In addition, what is the correlation between taking necessary rests and being useless and jobless? Remember that even the government knows that, at a certain age, you're meant to retire.

hmmmm, just finished reading most of u guys comments, first of all the average life expectancy for Nigerians is not up to 50 yrs so u guys should know that his death is not anything new!!! after all judges get retired at 70years too!!!

I'm shock to hear about the news of Chief Bassey's death. Though I don't know him nor have I ever met him, but virtually all the sign boards in Unilag were created by him or supervised by him .The univeristy will surely miss him. RIP anyway.

Many of them just want to use the 'active professor' status to make money in their various personal businesses. they hardly have time for thier students sef! I heard that the departed HOD was a business man.

I think we as a nation shld pay more attentiom to our health.regular exercise and eating d right food makes a lot of difference esp those whose jobs involves sitting in one place for most of d day

I met him once. I went to his office. They call him chief. I don't know why he was called by that name. Cos he looked more of a great scholar than the chief thing

If a man bags or becomes a Professor at 62 (going by the late age many of them attain that status) and he uses it to lecture for 3years, and retires at 65, Of what use is his attainment?
